Senior Software Engineer (PR02-DV)

About the Role: OKTO PAYMENTS is a next-generation, AI-native Payment Service Provider. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key technical leadership role in architecting, designing, and developing our next-generation payment platform. This position requires deep expertise in distributed systems, Java-based microservices, and high-volume transaction processing to power merchant growth worldwide.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and architecture of complex distributed systems handling real-time financial transactions at scale.
• Spearhead the integration of payment gateways, banks, card networks, and alternative payment methods.
• Take a lead role in the transition to a microservices-based architecture for payments.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers, and guide the team in best practices.
• Collaborate with DevOps to optimize CI/CD pipelines and monitoring strategies for production systems.

What You Bring

• 7+ years of experience in backend software development, with at least 3 years leading teams and architecting payment systems.
• Deep knowledge of Java 11+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and microservices architecture.
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services (IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway).
• Proven experience in fintech/payments, including an understanding of payment flows, settlement, reconciliation, and fraud detection.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively in both English and Spanish.
