Job Description

About the Role: At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. The FinOps team operates as the central nervous system for our infrastructure spend, bridging the gap between Engineering, Finance, and Product. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, FinOps to manage cost data across product teams, integrate vendor billing APIs, and build the internal FinOps Hub.

What You'll Do

  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering and Finance leadership to build tooling that provides real-time visibility into the financial impact of architectural decisions.
  • Build and maintain the core features of the internal FinOps Hub, transforming raw cloud and vendor data into actionable insights.
  • Own the integration of vendor billing APIs to ensure cost data is highly accurate and flows seamlessly into allocation models.
  • Manage cost allocations across all projects to ensure leadership and engineers can make data-driven, unit economic decisions.

What You Bring

  • Strong proficiency in backend software engineering (e.g., Go, Python, or Ruby) with a track record of delivering high-quality, production-ready code.
  • Deep, hands-on understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP) and how cloud primitives are provisioned, metered, and billed.
  • Analytical and debugging skills to trace cost anomalies back to specific infrastructure changes.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills to articulate technical drivers to engineering peers and product managers.
  • Bonus: Prior experience in FinOps, cloud economics, or professional certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
