Responsibilities
The Senior Software Engineer will use Agentic engineering to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that power DemandTec’s AI-driven retail platform. This is a full-time, remote role, with flexibility to work from home, but requires coordination with multiple timezones. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Implementing new features, optimizing existing services, and ensuring high performance, reliability, and security across systems.
- Collaborating closely with product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Mentoring team members, contributing to architecture decisions, and supporting continuous integration, testing, and deployment practices.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in Computer Science including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software design.
- Proficiency in Software Development leveraging Agentic engineering (Claude Code/Codex) with experience delivering production-quality products.
- Product development experience rather than consulting.
- Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including building and maintaining APIs and microservices, and databases.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expertise in RDBMS (preferably Postgres), data access technologies, performance tuning, and data modeling.
- Expert level in at least two of: 1) C# 2) Python, and 3) Java.
- Expertise in some of the following frameworks: FastAPI, Pydantic.AI, Pydantic 2, Polars, Pandas, .Net Core, Spring Boot, Enterprise Beans, Hibernate, JDBC.
- Comfort with modern development and DevOps practices, such as CI/CD pipelines, Agentic engineering, automated testing, and version control (e.g., Git).
- Flexibility to work with different timezones, strong problem-solving abilities, collaborative mindset, and clear communication skills in cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Experience in retail, pricing, or data-intensive SaaS products is a plus.
