In this high-leverage field engineering and consultative acquisition seat, you will partner next to regional enterprise sales executives to qualify, architect, and close complex commercial infrastructure platform deals. Shifting completely away from routine non-regulated administrative data entry logs, superficial template styling fixes, or passive customer support ticketing queues, you will operate an active multi-cloud instrumentation, runtime environment profiling, and Proof of Value (POV) sandboxing laboratory. You will take absolute technical ownership over client engagement metrics during the trial lifecycle, building custom evaluation criteria to address underlying digital infrastructure risks. This position requires a platform authority with 3+ years of dedicated Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering history who handles deep computational layers fluidly natively using DevOps, Technical Support, and Technical Writer primitives, commands strong scripting capabilities, and executes enterprise-wide software demonstrations across the Ohio Valley territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Proof of Value (POV) Governance: Design, execute, and own comprehensive technical evaluation plans and sandbox trial environments for potential enterprise clients, actively troubleshooting runtime roadblocks natively utilizing DevOps best practices.
- Technical Advisory Representation: Partner alongside the enterprise sales squad to articulate Datadog’s cloud observability roadmap, abstract system visions, and architectural deployment advantages cleanly during high-stakes corporate presentations.
- Competency Proof Customization: Lead the technical discovery loop to identify, diagnose, and mitigate client observability and cloud stability risks, matching platform features directly onto target customer constraints.
- Programmatic Scripting Verification: Review, write, and optimize diagnostic system metrics collectors and agent integrations natively deploying structured scripting models across languages such as Java, Python, Go, Node.JS, Ruby, PHP, or .NET.
- Product R&D Signal Triage: Act as the main customer field-side liaison back to internal Product and Core Engineering squads, synthesizing competitive landscape telemetry and client product feature requests into clear technical documentation natively leveraging Technical Writer parameters.
- Frontline Client Troubleshooting: Serve as a trusted technical customer support partner during pilot rollouts, analyzing client application behaviors, system log failures, and network traces natively deploying Technical Support baselines.
- CRM Intelligence Maintenance: Maintain immaculate, detailed records of customer architecture inputs, structural win/loss drivers, and technical evaluation blocks within the centralized sales tracking framework.
- Regional Account Mobility: Undertake rigorous regional travel via automotive, train, or air up to 45% of the time, including the physical capacity to sit up to 4 hours navigating to and from enterprise client sites.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 3+ years of proven, successful professional technology experience operating as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or closely matching tech-driven infrastructure deployment capacity.
- Expert Software Engineering Command: Practical production-grade engineering or scripting literacy writing and debugging clean code blocks natively within common enterprise backend languages (specifically Python, Go, Java, or Node.JS).
- Demonstrated experience defining, establishing, and managing complex technical proof-of-concept (POC) evaluations or cloud-native platform deployments for multi-tenant enterprise businesses.
- Grounded functional comprehension of modern web application performance indicators, container orchestration infrastructure, distributed system networks, and cloud telemetry structures.
- Outstanding written and verbal presentation communication strengths in English, with an established background explaining abstract backend monitoring limitations cleanly to both software developers and corporate business leads.
- Travel Availability: Absolute capacity and willingness to navigate regional territory constraints, traveling up to 45% of the time via auto, train, or air to facilitate onsite enterprise client consultations.
- Location Context: Position operates under remote parameters open exclusively to qualified full-stack cloud infrastructure and sales engineering authorities residing permanently within Ohio, United States.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior platform or consulting history building or troubleshooting software instrumentation explicitly inside the enterprise cloud observability, APM monitoring, log aggregation, or enterprise cybersecurity sectors.

- Remote-first flexible schedule autonomy open throughout Ohio, supported by an advanced hybrid office layout designed for face-to-face team collaboration and creativity.
- Macro Observability Platform Influence: Elite professional checkpoints built by single-handedly blueprinting the cloud architecture models, evaluation parameters, and deployment frameworks protecting modern enterprise digital stacks.
- Comprehensive health preservation choices, including elite healthcare, dental, parental planning networks, and inclusive mental health support benefits.
