Senior QA Engineer

The role of Senior QA Engineer involves owning testing across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This is a strategy-and-automation role, not a click-testing one. You will define the test strategy, write test cases, and automate them using established open-source testing tools, collaborating closely with developers to embed quality from the start rather than addressing it at the end.

This position partners closely with product and platform engineering.

What You'll Do

• Own the test strategy end-to-end across the SDLC.
• Build and own test coverage using established open-source testing tools, defining the strategy, writing test cases, and automating them. Integrate these tests into our CI/CD pipelines so tests run on every meaningful change.
• Write clear, maintainable test cases and test plans, ensuring they stay current as the product evolves.
• Plan and execute a full range of testing, including integration testing, system testing, regression testing, and stress/load/performance testing.
• Collaborate with developers to define acceptance criteria, shift testing left, and make quality a shared responsibility.
• Triage failures, conduct root-cause analysis on escaped defects, and ensure durable fixes are implemented.
• Report quality signals, such as coverage, flake rate, and escaped defects, in a way that enables the team to take action.

What You'll Need (Required)

• Strong test automation skills with a proven track record of designing test strategies and automating them using open-source tools.
• A deep, practical understanding of the SDLC and the role of testing at each stage.
• Proven experience writing test cases and test plans.
• Hands-on experience with multiple testing types: integration, system, regression, and stress/performance testing.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication skills to work directly with developers and advocate for quality effectively.
• Sufficient experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript.

Nice to Have

• Strong experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Familiarity with open-source testing tools such as Playwright, Cypress (for end-to-end), pytest (for unit and integration), k6, or Locust (for load and stress testing).
• Experience with testing cloud or containerized (Kubernetes) workloads.
• Experience supporting a SOC 2 or similar compliance program by producing test evidence.
• Background in enterprise or regulated environments where reliability is critical.
• Experience in early-stage environments where one person owns a broad testing surface.

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)

• Assess current test coverage and identify the highest-leverage gaps.
• Ensure automated test coverage is running in the pipeline on every meaningful change.
• Establish a clear, lightweight process for triaging failures and preventing repeat defects.

Remote in South America, Mexico, India, or LATAM.
