Senior Product Manager (Tools, Libraries, and Applications) at Yubico

Core Job Description

Yubico is looking for an experienced and highly collaborative Senior Product Manager to define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Tools, Libraries, and Applications (TLA) that underlie many of Yubico’s products and services. This role involves technical leadership in product management, collaborating closely with builders across various products, including:

• Open-source libraries and SDKs for developers to integrate strong hardware authentication into applications.
• Command-line tools for managing and using YubiKeys and YubiHSMs.
• Graphical apps for mobile and desktop platforms.

You will work with authentication protocols like FIDO2/WebAuthn and cryptography to implement open standards. Your responsibilities include showcasing libraries in sample apps, simplifying complex topics, and expanding the use of Yubico’s technology to new markets. You will serve as the strategic counterpart to the Senior Director of Engineering for Tools, Libraries & Applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Strategy & Roadmap Ownership: Define and execute the long-term product vision and roadmap for foundational tools, libraries, and applications, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Product, Operations, and Security teams to design high-impact capabilities that enhance product foundations for efficiency and scalability.
• Customer Focus: Meet with customers to understand market demand and outcomes for new products.
• Requirements Definition: Translate complex workflows and software requirements into clear, high-quality product requirement documents (PRDs) and user stories.
• Technical Partnership & Conflict Resolution: Serve as the strategic unifier in cross-functional technical decisions, synthesizing competing priorities between product vision and architectural necessity.
• Data-Driven Insights: Provide data-driven insights on product performance, including sales, financial trends, and pipeline analysis.
• Full Life-Cycle Management: Manage the entire product lifecycle from inception to end-of-life, including market and requirements gathering, customer validation, engineering, marketing, release, and end-of-life processes.
• Security & Compliance Management: Collaborate with security and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with cryptographic infrastructure (PKI and HSMs) while maintaining Yubico’s security standards.

Basic Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: 10+ years of progressively broadening product management experience, with a strong track record of shipping complex, enterprise-class hardware and manufacturing solutions.
• Domain Expertise: Proven experience in technical product management, including development of large-scale internal tools.
• Leadership & Acumen: Ability to act as a constructive challenger to highly technical engineering partners, with strong business and technical acumen to debate architectural trade-offs and manage competing priorities across distributed teams.
• Communication: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to align multi-disciplinary teams toward a unified vision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cryptographic Systems: Understanding of cryptographic systems, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), or Key Management Systems utilizing Hardware Security Modules (HSMs).
• Analytical Mindset: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to diving deep into technical workflows alongside engineering teams.
