Senior Product Analytics Engineer
Job Description
Key Skills Required
Master these to land this role
Want to know if you're a match for this job?
We're looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer who is genuinely obsessed with understanding how people use products. You'll partner with product and engineering to define what we should be measuring and build the infrastructure to measure it reliably.
You've worked at a consumer company before and understand what it means to chase Product-Market Fit (PMF). You've dug into retention curves, built funnel analyses, and identified the moments in a product that actually move the needle. You know that the hardest part often isn't the SQL: it's asking the right question.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the dedicated data partner for product and product design, joining roadmap planning and shaping feature scoping.
- Own product analytics instrumentation, auditing existing tracking and working with engineers to close gaps.
- Build and maintain dbt models for product, growth, and operational reporting.
- Design and maintain dashboards and self-serve tools for PMs and leadership.
- Drive understanding of engagement, retention, and activation, surfacing insights that inform product decisions.
- Identify leading indicators of product-market fit and track them over time.
- Build scalable data pipelines across the data warehouse, scoped to product and user data.
- Collaborate with analytics engineers on clinical and research data, coordinating on shared infrastructure.
- Proactively surface data quality issues and establish trustworthy data standards.
What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months):
- Clear picture of product metrics and funnels, with robust event tracking in place.
- Product and design teams treat you as a core member, not just a service provider.
- Shared understanding of core product and growth metrics: activation, engagement, retention.
- dbt models are clean, documented, and modular for easy expansion.
- Product decisions are grounded in data, not instinct.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in analytics engineering or a closely related data role.
- Experience at a consumer-facing company, understanding consumer behavior and growth metrics.
- Startup experience, with adaptability to shifting priorities.
- Strong SQL and dbt skills, with a focus on clean, modular, well-documented models.
- Hands-on experience with Mixpanel, including event tracking implementation.
- Proven track record of working directly with product managers and designers, shaping what gets built.
- Strong intuition for engagement and retention, with experience in funnel and cohort analysis.
- Experience with our stack or similar: BigQuery, dbt, Stitch, Hex.
- Clear communication skills to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- High ownership mindset, proactive problem-solving.
- Comfortable using AI tools to accelerate workflows.
- Experience designing or supporting A/B tests and interpreting results.
Bonus:
- Experience in healthcare or digital health.
- Familiarity with healthcare data formats like FHIR or CCDA.
- Experience with NLP or working with unstructured clinical text.
- Contributions to open-source data projects.
- Experience with mobile analytics instrumentation.
- Track record of building self-serve dashboards used by non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with structured growth frameworks like AARRR.
Who You Are:
- Genuinely curious about product and design, speaking both PM and designer languages.
- Comfortable questioning whether the right things are being measured.
- Proactive and high-ownership, bringing solutions rather than problems.
- Low-ego collaborator, making others more effective.
- Energized by building things that change company decision-making.
