Senior Platform Software Engineer, Transport

About the Role: dbt Labs is building a resilient and scalable cloud future on a state-of-the-art multi-cell architecture. The Transport team is at the core of this evolution. As a Senior Platform Software Engineer, you will design, build, and operate the foundational platform spanning infrastructure automation, cloud networking, and customer migration tooling.

What You'll Do

• Architect and build platform infrastructure including service routing, cloud networking, and account lifecycle management.
• Develop scalable backend services and infrastructure code primarily in Go and Python, with opportunities to work with Rust.
• Automate for scale using tools like Argo Workflows, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Develop and automate tooling to migrate customer accounts from legacy environments to the new multi-cell architecture.
• Tackle cloud networking challenges including VPC management, load balancing, DNS, PrivateLink, and service mesh configurations.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, specifically in backend, platform, or infrastructure roles.
• Deep expertise in modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and IaC (Terraform).
• Proficiency in Go or Python with a strong history of building large-scale distributed systems.
• Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (load balancing, proxies, service mesh) and a customer-focused approach to problem-solving.
• Bonus: Experience with cell-based architectures, building internal developer platforms, or multi-cloud strategies.
