GoodShip is the AI engine powering modern transportation networks, empowering transportation teams to optimize spend and service while driving seamless collaboration across internal stakeholders and external partners.
GoodShip unifies data from loads, tenders, contracts, real-time tracking, and market benchmarks to deliver a comprehensive, intelligent view of the transportation network. Embedded intelligence proactively recommends the highest-impact opportunities to save money, improve service, and reduce spot exposure.
Teams can act instantly by renegotiating rates, refining routing guide logic, triggering carrier performance alerts, or running off-cycle bids and full-network RFPs through purpose-built procurement tools that blend automation and intelligence. The result is a continuously optimized freight network that remains agile and resilient in a dynamic market.
We’re backed by A-list venture firms and founders of industry-leading FreightTech companies, and were recently recognized in the TechCrunch AI Disrupters 60. With ample financial backing and strong traction, we’re seeking a driven and experienced Enterprise Sales Director to join us on the ground floor and help bring ultra-modern transportation technology to market.
About the Role
As a Senior Platform Engineer (SRE), you will build the internal platform that enables GoodShip's engineering organization to deliver software quickly without sacrificing reliability. You'll improve developer experience, streamline delivery pipelines, strengthen observability, and build the tooling and automation that allows product teams to ship with confidence.
This is a highly leveraged engineering role where your customers are other engineers. You'll partner closely across the organization to remove operational bottlenecks, improve engineering productivity, and establish a culture where operational excellence and engineering velocity reinforce one another.
What You’ll Do
Design the Engineering Platform
Design, build, and evolve the internal platform that powers engineering at GoodShip. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, improve deployment workflows, and build self-service tooling that enables engineers to move faster with confidence.
Improve Developer Experience
Partner with engineering teams to identify workflow friction, improve developer tooling and local development environments, streamline deployment workflows, and champion engineering best practices that balance speed, quality, and reliability while further enabling AI-assisted engineering.
Drive Reliability and Observability
Design and implement observability across the platform using modern monitoring tools. Define Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and operational health metrics while building dashboards, alerting, tracing, and monitoring that improve system visibility, incident response, and operational excellence.
Strengthen Data Reliability
Partner with product engineering to improve the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of the data flowing through the platform. Build visibility into data quality and processing pipelines while proactively identifying and preventing data integrity issues before they impact customers.
Build for Scale
Continuously identify opportunities to eliminate bottlenecks, automate manual work, and improve engineering productivity. Help establish the platform, processes, and operational practices that enable GoodShip to scale efficiently as the engineering organization grows.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience building production-quality systems.
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating production workloads on AWS.
- Demonstrated success building and maintaining modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
- Expertise in building developer tooling, automation, or internal engineering platforms.
- Experience implementing observability using Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud architecture, and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience defining operational metrics, SLIs, SLOs, dashboards, and alerting strategies.
- A systems-thinking mindset with the ability to identify bottlenecks and improve engineering workflows.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence engineering practices across teams.
- Demonstrated ownership, curiosity, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficiency using AI development tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or Claude as productivity multipliers.
- Experience supporting high-growth SaaS platforms, Kubernetes, ECS, Docker, release automation, PostgreSQL, event-driven architectures, or logistics and supply chain software is a plus.

GoodShip
View Company ProfileGoodShip (operating under goodship.io) is the premier, enterprise-grade freight orchestration and procurement platform, AI-powered logistics operating system, and supply chain intelligence powerhouse engineered to act as the definitive, high-velocity data unification, carrier management, and transportation spend optimization layer for large-scale enterprise shippers. Founded by seasoned digital freight pioneers Ryan Soskin and David Tsai (both former executives at Convoy and industry leaders at Coyote Logistics and Stord), the platform completely eliminates the severe systemic friction of modern logistics networks—where shipping teams lose vital margin and operational momentum to fragmented data silos across isolated Transportation Management Systems (TMS), volatile spot-market exposures, manual request-for-proposal (RFP) cycles, and non-transparent carrier tracking metrics—by deploying a sophisticated, broker-agnostic supply chain optimization matrix. Moving far beyond traditional, passive data dashboards or standalone freight brokers, GoodShip natively unifies automated multi-aggregator freight data pipelines, real-time market rate benchmarking (integrating directly with major indexes like DAT, Truckstop, and FreightWaves SONAR), collaborative carrier scorecards, and a specialized cross-border lane benchmark engine developed in partnership with Cargado. Serving market-defining enterprise shippers, mid-market manufacturers, and massive food and beverage distribution networks (including Kellanov, Reser's Fine Foods, Tropicana, and KeHE), the infrastructure routinely delivers a 3–5% reduction in overall transportation spend and a 20% decrease in late shipments with production-hardened systems precision. Backed by over $40M in elite institutional venture financing—anchored by a monumental $25M Series B round led by Greenfield Partners alongside returning powerhouses Bessemer Venture Partners, Ironspring Ventures, Chicago Ventures, and FUSE VC—the organization scales its technological reach through flagship innovations like \"Laney,\" the industry's first conversational AI transportation analyst. Under the hood, its sophisticated technical core coordinates complex multi-variable bid scenario models, high-concurrency ledger processing loops, automated carrier performance alerts, and secure API bridges built to ingest enterprise data structures seamlessly without requiring costly data lake replacements. What sets GoodShip apart is its uncompromising dedication to replacing fragmented, spreadsheet-driven freight management with absolute operational visibility, data-grounded shipper-carrier accountability, and network agility; by bridging the gap between performance-intensive structural logistics data and immediate tactical procurement execution, the enterprise remains the definitive, category-defining cornerstone of modern algorithmic freight orchestration and global supply chain scaling.
