Position Overview

We are seeking a highly sophisticated, systems-minded Senior Platform Engineer to join our core Platform Engineering division in a full-time remote capacity within Canada. In this technical leadership seat, you will claim direct, hands-on ownership over evolving our infrastructure maturity, driving reliability, system scaling parameters, and secure access configurations across a rapidly expanding SaaS product ecosystem. Moving past simple environment maintenance, you will spearhead the architecture of our production-grade cloud environments, establishing declarative deployment patterns to shift teams from reactive firefighting to proactive system design. This role demands a seasoned DevOps or SRE specialist who excels at making complex infrastructure simple, repeatable, and completely resilient against downtime failures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Azure Architecture Evolution: Design, establish, and optimize our primary Microsoft Azure cloud architectures while strategically supporting and refactoring our legacy AWS infrastructure footprint.
  • Production Kubernetes Orchestration: Assume full production ownership of Kubernetes (AKS) clusters, managing complex multi-environment configurations, software upgrades, horizontal scaling, ingress layers, and secure secret management tools.
  • Declarative Automation Coding: Author, standardize, and maintain modular, reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) architectures natively using Terraform across parallel cloud environments.
  • GitOps CI/CD Delivery Rails: Build and optimize highly secure, reliable continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines for infrastructure layers, containerized workloads, serverless scripts, and database migrations via Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Cloud Networking & Segmentation: Engineer robust cloud networking layouts, configuring virtual network (VNet) routing properties, micro-segmentation perimeters, private endpoint pathways, and secure traffic flows.
  • Developer Enablement & Productivity: Reduce friction for feature developer squads by delivering automated configuration templates, self-service infrastructure portals, and structured runbook documentation.
  • Distributed Observability Telemetry: Construct integrated platform monitoring, logging, and application tracing structures leveraging Azure-native monitoring tools and OpenTelemetry standards to establish actionable alerting matrices.
  • Access Control & Audit Governance: Enforce secure identity access patterns, including role-based access control (RBAC), managed service identities, and database security controls to preserve SOC audit readiness.
  • Incident Response Leadership: Participate in an engineering on-call rotation, leading rapid production troubleshooting efforts and executing root cause and causal analysis loops for technical remediation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 6+ years of verified professional history running cloud infrastructure engineering, DevOps pipeline automation, site reliability engineering (SRE), or cloud architecture.
  • 2+ years of direct, hands-on operational history configuring, scaling, and maintaining live production systems natively within Microsoft Azure (compute, storage, and networking layers).
  • Expert-tier technical proficiency with containerization technologies, with a strong background managing and tuning production clusters via Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
  • Advanced operational command using Terraform for declarative, multi-tier infrastructure provisioning and state management.
  • Demonstrated background designing end-to-end continuous integration pipelines coupled with practical mastery of GitOps deployment workflows inside Azure DevOps or GitHub.
  • Strong programming and scripting literacy, showcasing high proficiency in at least one systems automation language such as Python or Bash.
  • Familiarity with production relational database management, covering database access security, performance tuning, and automated backups.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication mechanics, with a proven history of collaborating cross-functionally across multi-disciplinary engineering cells.
  • Location Context: Full-time remote-first operational parameters open exclusively to qualified platform engineers based permanently anywhere within Canada.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior professional experience operating within a regulated fintech, automated payroll processing, banking, or enterprise SaaS product environment.
  • Possession of industry-recognized cloud architecture or engineering badges, specifically professional Azure or AWS infrastructure certifications.
  • Hands-on background implementing DevSecOps principles, automated code scanning, or advanced microservices architectural patterns.

What We Offer

  • Equitable Annual Compensation Matrix: An attractive, experience-calibrated salary range of $100,000 – $140,000 CAD per year, engineered transparently to evaluate your technical background, domain skillset, and system knowledge.
  • The exceptional professional canvas to directly direct infrastructure decisions, eliminate technical debt, and build the platform foundation backing thousands of small businesses.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters providing a permanent work-from-home framework, complete geographic freedom inside Canada, and zero office commute burdens.
  • Access to robust paths for continuous professional development and career advancement within an innovative environment that aggressively encourages new creative ideas.
  • Integration into an internationally acclaimed, friendly corporate culture that pairs tough technical challenges with an endless amount of laughter and great life balance.
