About Credence: Credence (Credence.ai) is a premier global technology innovator and an elite government services firm dedicated to supporting mission-critical data needs for the largest defense and healthcare federal organizations across the United States. Repeatedly recognized as an exceptional place to work and maintaining a continuous 12-year standing on the prestigious Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies list, we provide cutting-edge advancements in AI/ML, enterprise software modernization, and high-stakes intelligence capabilities. Operating on principles of servant leadership, our multi-disciplinary engineering collective aligns with client goals to secure tactical infrastructure and maximize operational velocity for national security.

Position Overview

We are seeking an exceptionally logical, security-minded, and system-oriented Senior MuleSoft API Developer to join our core Enterprise Modernization division under a permanent, full-time remote engagement framework within the United States. Operating as a principal technical leader, you will step up to claim absolute middleware architecture layout, enterprise service bus configuration, and endpoint synchronization accountability to power high-stakes federal integration streams. Shifting completely away from entry-level website layout coding, low-stakes customer helpdesk tracking, or basic data inputting, you will run an active high-throughput DataWeave translation, distributed system orchestration, and cloud endpoint optimization laboratory—partnering face-to-face with Solution Architects, federal business owners, database administrators, and government program teams. This position requires an engineering authority with 5+ years of Anypoint Platform experience who structures relational integration vectors fluidly natively using Backend architectures, evaluates application security tokens cleanly within strictly regulated DoD cloud modules, and directs robust API-led connectivity pipelines confidently to support national defense infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core MuleSoft Solution Architecture: Conceptualize, architect, and deliver secure, scalable, and highly available MuleSoft API architectures and enterprise integration flows connecting distributed cloud and internal networks natively utilizing Backend principles.
  • Reusable Integration Engineering: Build and standardize modular, reusable service integration paths and automated processing modules, minimizing engineering redundancies across multi-tier federal datasets.
  • DataWeave and Query Optimization: Author and tune advanced data translation maps using DataWeave scripting, ensuring zero latency data transformations across complex XML, JSON, and flat-file relational schemas.
  • Technical Peer Mentorship: Chair detailed technical code reviews, evaluate pipeline logs persistently, and mentor software developers on MuleSoft integration standards and modern microservice benchmarks.
  • Secure Endpoint Governance: Manage the architectural implementation, consumption, and monitoring of enterprise RESTful endpoints and legacy SOAP services within highly secure data fields.
  • Agile Sprint Coordination: Coordinate actively inside collaborative Agile and Scrum scrum frameworks, transforming abstract government functional prerequisites into maintainable software builds.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a highly related quantitative field of study.
  • A minimum of 5 years of verified professional history operating as an enterprise integration developer, software engineer, or backend systems programmer.
  • Mandatory Platform Depth: Extensive, hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying enterprise integration components using the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and DataWeave scripts.
  • Proven background troubleshooting architectural bottlenecks, synchronization errors, and connection timeouts across large-scale distributed systems.
  • Mandatory Certifications Portfolio: Must hold an active MuleSoft Certified Developer credential paired with an active DoD 8570 IAT Level 1 compliance certification.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration strengths in English, ensuring professional documentation handoffs and technical roadmap alignment across federal teams.
  • Location Context: Position features 100% remote parameters open to qualified software engineers operating from an established home workspace within the United States, with central hubs located in McLean, VA and Columbus, OH.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Possession of an active Federal Security Clearance is highly preferred for immediate onboarding into secure assignments.
  • Direct, hands-on administrative familiarity deploying and scaling data integration pipelines within Department of Defense (DoD) cloud environments.
  • Prior background collaborating side-by-side with government program directors or enterprise system owners.

What We Offer

  • Vetted, Federal Technology Compensation Blueprint: Highly competitive experience-calibrated base salary package structured to attract premier middleware talent within the US software engineering market.
  • Full remote workspace flexibility within the US, supplemented by access to centralized state-of-the-art office setups when preferred.
  • Comprehensive health care insurance portfolio providing top-tier Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage lines for physical wellness.
  • Robust financial planning provisions including a matched 401(k) retirement plan and optional personal IRA structures.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) packages encompassing vacation days, paid sick leaves, and public holidays alongside paid maternity and paternity family allowances.
  • Company-sponsored life insurance plans augmented by comprehensive short-term and long-term disability protection layers.
  • Dedicated training, continuous learning benefits, and clear certification budgets to support your technological path.
