The Senior Manager of User Experience (UX) role at SupplyHouse.com is a hands-on leadership position reporting to the Director of Customer Experience. This individual will elevate how design decisions connect to customer research and measurable business outcomes.

The role involves leading and growing a team of UX designers, ensuring design work is grounded in research rather than intuition, and serving as the primary voice for UX in executive-level conversations.

This remote position is open to individuals who live in, or are open to relocating to, the following states: Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

This position requires travel to the headquarters in Melville, NY 6 times per year for internal meetings and team-building activities. Travel expenses are reimbursed, and on-site work is also welcome.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of UX designers, setting standards for craft, rigor, and consistency across projects
  • Establish and enforce a research-informed design process: every major design decision should trace back to a customer insight, usability finding, or behavioral data point
  • Partner closely with Customer Research to translate findings (usability testing, surveys, session data, voice-of-customer) into actionable design direction
  • Own UX best practices and design standards across the org, including accessibility, information architecture, and interaction design patterns for our e-commerce and app experiences
  • Represent UX work and rationale directly to executive and senior leadership, translating design decisions into business terms (conversion, retention, engagement)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Merchandising, and IT to ensure design solutions align with broader marketing and product strategy
  • Build a repeatable framework for prioritizing UX initiatives based on customer impact and business value
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and timelines across multiple concurrent design workstreams
  • Champion the thoughtful integration of AI-driven tools and solutions within the UX team, identifying opportunities to enhance design workflows and drive innovation across the customer journey

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field
  • 10+ years of UX leadership experience, including 2+ years directly managing designers
  • Demonstrated experience designing direct-to-consumer e-commerce experiences, with hands-on ownership of conversion outcomes (e.g.: conversion rate, average order value, revenue per visitor, or cart completion)
  • Demonstrated track record of using customer research (qualitative and quantitative) to drive design decisions, not just aesthetic execution
  • Strong portfolio showing end-to-end ownership: research input, design rationale, and measurable outcome
  • Experience presenting design work and strategy to executive stakeholders, comfortable defending decisions with data and reasoning
  • Fluency with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g.: Figma)
  • Excellent communication skills, able to flex between detailed design critique with the team and strategic framing with leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large, attribute-heavy product catalogs; B2B or trade/distribution industry experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with analytics platforms (e.g.: Amplitude or similar)

SupplyHouse (SupplyHouse.com) is a highly disruptive, industry-leading e-commerce platform fundamentally transforming how plumbing, heating, and HVAC supplies are sourced and delivered. Founded in 2004 by CEO Josh Meyerowitz and headquartered in Melville, New York, the company has completely digitized the traditionally fragmented building materials space. Under the hood, SupplyHouse operates a massive, ultra-efficient logistics network featuring strategically located fulfillment centers that enable blazing-fast, two-day shipping to 98% of the United States. Their primary target audience spans professional tradesmen, HVAC contractors, plumbers, and ambitious DIY consumers who desperately need transparent pricing, extensive inventory (from complex hydronics to basic fittings), and world-class customer support without the friction of traditional brick-and-mortar supply runs. What sets SupplyHouse apart in the competitive industrial retail ecosystem is its obsessive focus on high-speed fulfillment and its "team-first" culture—a winning formula that recently attracted a massive strategic investment from private equity giant KKR to aggressively scale their operations and cement their position as the ultimate digital-first supplier for the skilled trades.
