Position Overview
We are seeking a highly autonomous, systems-fluent, and commercially sharp Senior Manager, Customer Engineering to lead our technical customer-facing go-to-market organization in India under a permanent, full-time remote configuration. Reporting directly into APAC Customer Engineering leadership, this high-agency seat operates at the intersection of team people management and technical architecture. Shifting completely away from routine non-regulated data entry logs, superficial template modifications, or basic support desk tickets, you will operate a high-concurrency solution design, enterprise proof-of-concept (PoC), and AI-augmented technical pre-sales validation laboratory. As a true player-coach, you will maintain deep individual technical contribution while technically mentoring a squad of solution engineers. This position requires an engineering leader with a proven background leading regional technical strategies across India or APAC, who manages corporate pipelines fluidly natively using Cybersecurity, DevOps, and Python primitives, possesses deep enterprise architecture literacy, and translates abstract cloud infrastructure mechanics into definitive business-value metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- CE Technical Team Governance: Lead, grow, and technically develop the India Customer Engineering organization across strategic enterprise accounts natively utilizing Cybersecurity and pre-sales primitives.
- Pre-Sales Pre-Validation & Architecture: Serve as the principal regional point of reference on complex customer cloud configurations, edge-computing architecture, high-level escalations, and system design integrations.
- Go-to-Market Strategy Instrumentation: Own the overarching operational cadence for technical technical discoveries, product demonstrations, custom sandbox architectures, PoC executions, and technical renewal support.
- Commercial Deal Pipeline Triage: Partner close-knit beside field Account Executives to run technical deal inspections, drive quota-carrying validation tracks, and secure account expansion conversions.
- Cross-Functional System Synchronization: Act as a strategic liaison across Sales, Product Development, Core Engineering, and Global Customer Support cells to accelerate feature-gap reviews and product enhancements natively deploying DevOps paradigms.
- Workload Management and Mentorship: Conduct regular 1:1 sessions, provide constructive architectural reviews, balance team workloads, and coach technologists on executive communication.
- Applied AI Stack Innovation: Drive pre-sales automation by leveraging Cloudflare’s serverless developer layer, prompt engineering, LLM orchestration, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) structures using platforms like Workers AI.
- Code and Script Validation: Review and write maintainable architectural validations or integration automation models natively leveraging the Python or JavaScript scripting ecosystems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Documented, successful professional history operating as a Solutions Engineering Manager, Customer Engineering Lead, Sales Engineering Director, or closely matching tech-enabled pre-sales architectural capacity.
- Proven People Leadership Pedigree: Direct, practical experience handling team management bounds—encompassing hiring, performance optimization, bench-strength building, and succession blueprint mapping.
- Deep technical fluency spanning corporate cybersecurity boundaries, modern global networking layers, cloud enterprise architecture, and serverless developer platforms.
- Outstanding commercial acumen with a verified track record collaborating within revenue-aligned, quota-carrying, or strategic enterprise growth environments across India or the broader APAC footprint.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and visual presentation communication strengths in English, with an established background delivering technical logic clearly to C-suite corporate executives.
- Location Context: Position operates under remote guidelines open exclusively to qualified technical engineering leaders residing permanently within India.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Direct operational experience configuring or architecting platforms natively utilizing Cloudflare’s developer stack, including Workers AI and AI Gateway toolchains.
- Prior infrastructure or pre-sales background operating directly with major hyperscaler ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) or tier-one cybersecurity vendor codebases.
- Possess recognized professional technical certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, GCP Cloud Engineer, Palo Alto, ISC2, or ISACA (CISSP/CISM).
- An adaptable, AI-forward leader persona who values curiosity over bureaucracy and prefers rapid iterations over slow static playbooks.
