Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer at Ascertain

Ascertain is building AI agents to automate administrative work for care teams, deployed in major health systems and large specialty groups, saving hundreds of staff hours weekly. About the Role

As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer at Ascertain, you will develop and deploy product features across the entire stack—from backend services and data infrastructure powering the healthcare AI platform to the web application used daily by partner operations teams. You will join a growing team with full ownership over product, development processes, and engineering culture.

The company operates with high autonomy, shared accountability, and deep respect for end-users. Headquarters are in New York City with a hybrid team there, plus remote engineers across the U.S. and Brazil.

What You’ll Do

• Own product features end-to-end, from design through production.
• Build user-facing experiences using React and TypeScript.
• Design and deploy backend services with Python and FastAPI.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to translate ambiguous problems into shipped software.
• Elevate code review standards and shape engineering practices.
• Improve development processes, including testing, CI/CD, and observability.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of full-stack experience with Python (FastAPI) and TypeScript with React.
• Experience designing schemas and writing complex SQL queries against relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Redis, queueing systems, or other production stack components.
• Experience building and operating production systems in a cloud environment (GCP).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (most work is asynchronous).
• Background in early-stage, ambiguous environments where ownership is taken without extensive scaffolding.
• Alignment with U.S. Eastern business hours.

Nice to Have

• Experience in regulated environments (healthcare, fintech) with a security-focused mindset.
• Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) experience.
