Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Accounting Platform)

The Role

Foodics powers thousands of restaurants with point-of-sale, payments, inventory, and operational systems. The team is now building an accounting platform—a foundational layer that automates financial reporting for merchants without redundant manual work. This is a new product being built from scratch by a small squad, and you’ll be one of the first engineers on it.

The scope includes designing a ledger, core accounting modules, ZATCA compliance, and deep integrations with inventory, payments, and POS systems. The timeline is aggressive, and ambiguity is expected—this is intentional.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build the core accounting product, including general ledger, chart of accounts, journals, accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR), reconciliation, and financial reporting, on Foodics’ stack.
• Own integration surfaces for inventory, payments, POS transaction flows, and regulatory e-invoicing.
• Work full-stack—there is no backend-only or frontend-only role on this team.
• Translate accounting requirements into system design, collaborating closely with a product manager and domain accountant.
• Leverage AI tooling as a core part of development, evaluating reference systems, generating and reviewing code, and accelerating workflows.
• Make early architectural decisions, as financial data demands a robust foundation.
• Ship features in weeks, not quarters, and iterate based on real merchant feedback.

Requirements

Required:

• 5+ years of experience building production software, with deep expertise in accounting, ERP, or financial systems. You must understand double-entry accounting, period close processes, and why a ledger isn’t just another database table.
• Strong full-stack engineering skills, comfortable owning features from schema to screen.
• AI-native workflows: daily use of agents and LLM tooling, with discernment about trustworthiness of outputs, and measurable productivity gains from AI.
• Proven track record of shipping fast in early-stage or greenfield environments—small teams, short cycles.
• Rigorous attention to correctness in systems where errors are costly.
• Able to work substantially within GMT+3 hours.

Strong Plus:

• Product instinct—you don’t just implement but shape what gets built alongside your product partner.
• Experience building or operating a ledger, double-entry engine, or transaction-processing system at scale.
• Background in fintech, banking, payments, or financial services.
• Familiarity with ERP platforms (ERPNext, Odoo, NetSuite, SAP) as a builder, integrator, or serious user.
• Experience with ZATCA e-invoicing or comparable regional tax/regulatory integrations.
• Shipped AI-powered features, not just used AI for code generation.
• Arabic speaker.
