Senior Embedded Software Engineer (SP1 - RVT)

About the Role

This role involves developing, integrating, and adapting embedded operating systems (such as Embedded Linux or RTOS) for ECUs (Electronic Control Units) with a focus on replicating and optimizing a Test OS across automotive platforms.

The primary objective is to analyze and port the Test OS (used for testing, diagnostics, and validation) from Gen2 vehicles to Gen1, adapting its architecture, services, and deployment workflow.

You will develop software abstraction layers to ensure compatibility between the Test OS and ECU hardware, integrating key functionalities such as diagnostics (UDS, DoIP), firmware flashing, data logging, and real-time health monitoring.

Automated testing (SIL, HIL, and vehicle-level) will be implemented to validate ECU behavior and connected components.

Troubleshooting issues across software, hardware, and communication layers, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to address platform gaps, is also a critical part of this role.

The work ensures that embedded systems in Gen1 vehicles perform with the same robustness and testing capabilities as Gen2, guaranteeing quality, safety, and compliance with automotive standards (e.g., ASPICE, MISRA C).

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

• Analysis and Adaptation of Test OS:
• Analyze the architecture, services, and deployment workflow of the Test OS implemented in Gen2 vehicles.
• Port the Test OS to Gen1 ECUs of RVT, ensuring compatibility with existing hardware.
• Embedded Software Development:
• Develop platform abstraction layers to facilitate communication, control, and monitoring of ECUs.
• Implement software modules for diagnostics integration, firmware flashing, and data acquisition.
• Integration of Key Functionalities:
• Integrate ECU diagnostics (DIDs, DTCs) using protocols like UDS and DoIP.
• Implement firmware flashing routines for secure updates in ECUs.
• Configure logging and real-time health monitoring systems to record and analyze data.
• Automated Testing:
• Design and develop SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) tests to validate software in simulated environments.
• Create HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) tests to validate software with real hardware.
• Implement vehicle-level tests to validate system behavior under real conditions.
• Debugging and Problem Resolution:
• Debug issues across software, hardware, and communication layers in ECUs.
• Collaborate with ECU, electrical, systems, validation, and hardware teams to identify and resolve platform gaps.
• Collaboration and Documentation:
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration and validation of the Test OS in Gen1.
• Document processes, changes, and testing results.
• Compliance with Standards:
• Ensure software development complies with ASPICE and MISRA C standards.
• Validate that implemented solutions meet client requirements for security and quality.
