Senior Database Engineer

About the Role: At Rubikal, we design, build, and operate human-centric digital services. We are seeking an experienced Database Site Reliability Engineer (DBSRE) / Senior Database Engineer to support and operate enterprise-scale, mission-critical database platforms across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL/MariaDB, and Microsoft SQL Server.

What You'll Do

• Install, configure, and manage PostgreSQL (Patroni), MongoDB replica sets, MySQL/MariaDB HA, and MS SQL Server Always On.
• Ensure high availability, replication, and automated failover for mission-critical databases.
• Perform database and query performance tuning, indexing optimization, and resource utilization analysis.
• Automate database provisioning, configuration, and operations while maintaining monitoring/alerting via Prometheus and Grafana.
• Conduct Disaster Recovery (DR) drills, ensuring RTO/RPO compliance, and perform zero-downtime upgrades.

What You Bring

• Minimum 5 years of DevOps, DBA, or SRE experience managing production DB systems at scale.
• Expertise in PostgreSQL (HA, replication, tuning) and strong knowledge of MongoDB (replica sets, sharding).
• Experience with Azure PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, and database migration strategies.
• Excellent communication skills in English and a self-driven, detail-oriented mindset.
• Bonus: Experience with Kubernetes operators for databases, CI/CD pipelines (Flyway/Liquibase), and other NoSQL/time-series databases like Redis or Elasticsearch.
