We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate the scalable data platforms behind a global payments & financial-services leader's marketing services products. You'll enable campaign measurement, customer insights, reporting, and AI/ML initiatives — partnering with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Business stakeholders to turn complex data challenges into secure, reliable, high-quality solutions at enterprise scale.
What Your Day Might Look Like:
- Build the pipelines: Design, deploy, and maintain scalable batch, streaming, and real-time data pipelines supporting business-critical marketing products and analytics workloads.
- Create reusable foundations: Develop frameworks and services for ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and delivery across data lake, warehouse, and lakehouse solutions.
- Scale and harden: Lead initiatives on platform scalability, performance, reliability, and resiliency, and strengthen data quality, observability, governance, security, and lineage across the ecosystem.
- Modernise: Drive cloud migration and modernisation, evolving legacy platforms towards modern cloud-native architectures.
- Enable the use cases: Provide the trusted data foundations behind advanced analytics, reporting, AI/ML, experimentation, and customer insights.
- Set the standard: Establish engineering best practices, CI/CD automation, infrastructure-as-code, and operational excellence — and lead root-cause analysis on complex production issues.
- Lead and mentor: Contribute technical leadership across initiatives, mentor engineers, and shape architectural decisions and technology roadmaps.
Requirements
Your Superpowers:
- Extensive experience designing and building scalable data platforms and distributed data-processing solutions.
- Strong expertise across modern data engineering technologies — Spark, Kafka, Hadoop ecosystem tools, cloud-native data services, and large-scale processing frameworks.
- Proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, Scala, or SQL.
- Deep understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT design patterns, data architecture, and data lifecycle management, with a track record building pipelines for analytics, reporting, ML, and operational data products.
- Hands-on experience delivering on cloud platforms such as Databricks, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Solid grasp of data governance, security, privacy, lineage, metadata management, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps automation, infrastructure-as-code, and observability frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex issues in distributed environments, plus the judgement to balance technical excellence with business priorities.
- Experience leading technical initiatives, influencing architecture, and mentoring engineers, backed by strong stakeholder communication across engineering, product, analytics, and business teams.
Bonus Points for:
- Experience with marketing, campaign, or customer-insights data domains.
- Real-time and streaming architectures at enterprise scale.
- Exposure to Generative AI or AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- An advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
