About Sweed: Sweed is building the leading all-in-one cannabis retail enterprise platform utilized by premium dispensaries across the United States. Our cloud-native ecosystem unifies Point of Sale (POS), eCommerce systems, targeted marketing engines, robust inventory tracking, and consumer engagement analytics into a single software solution. With a globally distributed remote-first team of over 200+ individuals, we bridge innovative microservices software with real-time operations, helping modern cannabis dispensaries scale rapidly, streamline checkout velocities, and navigate high-load transactional metrics with absolute regulatory confidence.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly autonomous, systems-fluent, and microservices-proficient Senior Backend Engineer (.NET) to join our core Order Management System (OMS) division under a permanent, full-time remote configuration open to international candidates worldwide. In this business-critical software seat, you will take absolute architectural ownership, database optimization, and lifecycle tracking accountability over our high-throughput e-commerce platform engines—including core checkout pipelines, public developer APIs, and external integration lines. Shifting completely away from non-technical text content rewriting loop routines, generic presentation theme layouts, or standalone administrative data filing entries, you will lead an active asynchronous messaging, state-machine debugging, and microservice decoupling laboratory—partnering face-to-face with international product engineering cells. This position requires a backend software authority with 5+ years of history who engineers enterprise solutions fluidly natively using Backend and systems primitives, writes highly observable code layers using C# and .NET 8+ frameworks, scales distributed message boundaries cleanly, maps performant relational indexing, and commits to daily core meeting availability within the 10:00–16:00 CET team overlap block.
Key Responsibilities
- OMS Microservices Governance: Design, develop, and scale fault-tolerant backend services and checkout microservices natively utilizing Backend code models.
- Public API Platform Engineering: Formulate, expand, and maintain high-throughput public and private REST or gRPC APIs used by merchant partners and internal system applications.
- Monolithic Decomposition & Decoupling: Lead the systematic refactoring, extraction, and migration of legacy monolith elements into independent, decoupled asynchronous system services.
- Asynchronous Messaging & Events: Deploy, test, and tune event-driven streaming structures and background workers utilizing message buses like RabbitMQ.
- Distributed Relational Layer Tuning: Write, optimize, and profile database calls across MS SQL and PostgreSQL using tools like Entity Framework Core (EF Core) or Dapper to eliminate data latency bottlenecks.
- High-Performance Caching Control: Implement, scale, and clear state layers and transient datasets systematically leveraging distributed Redis caching configurations.
- System Observability Instrumentation: Build and integrate structured monitoring charts, system alerts, and distributed execution trace logs leveraging tools like Grafana.
- Cross-Functional Collaborative Reviews: Enforce technical craftsmanship via pull request code reviews, participating in architecture system design groups within two-week sprint structures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 5+ years of proven, professional history operating inside a Backend Developer, Systems Engineer, Software Engineer, or closely matching technical computing capacity.
- Expert C# & .NET Framework Command: Advanced production-grade mastery writing resilient services using C#, .NET 8+, and ASP.NET Core within containerized distributed systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing, scaling, and maintaining production-grade microservices architectures under transaction-heavy workloads.
- Grounded command over relational database design, data consistency management, and query optimization across MS SQL Server or PostgreSQL tiers.
- Hands-on operational familiarity with asynchronous routing layers or event-driven brokers (specifically RabbitMQ or similar messaging brokers).
- Practical familiarity tracking transient memory spaces or key-value structures utilizing Redis or identical caching solutions.
- Team Collaboration Sync Block: Professional flexibility to synchronize schedules and be actively online during our core collaborative team window of 10:00–16:00 CET.
- Location Context: Position operates under remote parameters open to qualified backend engineers residing permanently inside international locations outside the U.S.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior experience or background engineering high-load software solutions for the E-commerce, Point of Sale (POS), retail technology, or payment checkout domains.
- Familiarity with cloud computing architectures and deployment tooling, showing exposure to Kubernetes, Docker containers, AWS clusters, or GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Prior history engineering real-time bi-directional transport communication layers using SignalR nodes.
- Hands-on experience incorporating modern AI-assisted software development tools to accelerate pipeline delivery and documentation tracking.
What We Offer
- Top-Tier International B2B Contract: A stable B2B contract alignment with a fast-growing US technology firm, with all compensation awarded cleanly in USD, independent of your domestic market location.
- 100% remote workspace infrastructure freedom from your home office, combined with highly flexible schedules outside core meeting slots.
- Direct High-Scale Operating Credentials: Unique professional growth milestones achieved by directing core order lifecycle engines handling transactions for hundreds of US dispensaries.
- Comprehensive equipment reimbursement structures to optimize your tech setup laboratory.
- Generous Paid Time Off Allowances: 20 paid vacation days, 12 observed company holidays, and 3 dedicated sick leave days alongside premium medical insurance coverages following probation phases.
