The Opportunity

Our Claims team is growing, and we're looking for a Senior Auto Casualty Adjuster to own litigated auto claims from filing through resolution. This role manages first-party PIP/Medpay litigation, third-party liability litigation, and UM/UIM litigation, with a focus on complex claims carrying potential high exposure across multiple states, including Florida.

You'll develop litigation strategy after reviewing initial complaints and amended actions, drive settlement negotiations, and shape how the team approaches pre-suit claims and litigation trends. In periods of lower litigated volume, you'll also flex into non-litigated bodily injury and other first- and third-party auto claims.

Your Responsibilities

  • Own a caseload of litigated auto liability and bodily injury claims from suit assignment through resolution
  • Develop litigation strategy by reviewing initial complaints, amended actions, and evolving case facts
  • Analyze claims exposure and build negotiation strategies for settlement
  • Review pleadings, discovery, and motions to keep suit-handling plans aligned with case developments
  • Collaborate with defense counsel, claims counsel, and claims management on strategic planning
  • Build and maintain relationships with approved defense firms and industry vendors
  • Prepare for and attend mediations, depositions, arbitrations, and trials
  • Apply multi-state statutory knowledge, including Florida's insurance code, PIP statute, and bad faith framework
  • Maintain active adjuster licensing and CE credits, and stay current on case law and statutory changes
  • Mentor junior adjusters through file reviews, coverage questions, and complex claim coaching

Success in This Role

In your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. You'll use your skills and judgment to take ownership of meaningful work, improve how we operate, and help move Kin's mission forward. Along the way, you'll deliver outcomes that make a real difference for both Kinfolk and the customers we serve.

By the end of your first year, you should feel confident in your role, trusted as an owner, and proud of the progress you've helped make.

  • Taken ownership of a caseload of litigated auto claims, including high-exposure Bodily Injury, PIP, and UM/UIM claims or suits, driving each file’s strategy from acknowledgement through resolution with sound reserving and settlements, and operating in good faith.
  • Become a trusted partner to defense counsel, claims counsel, and claims management developing clear litigation and negotiation strategies that resolve complex files efficiently at mediation, arbitration, or trial and reduce unnecessary litigation spend.
  • Helped raise the bar across the team, mentoring junior adjusters through file reviews and complex claim coaching, and shaping how the unit approaches pre-suit claims and emerging litigation trends.

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years of auto claims adjusting experience
  • 3+ years of auto injury claims and litigation experience
  • Extensive experience handling claims in Florida, including Florida's insurance code, PIP statute, and bad faith framework; additional state experience (e.g., Texas, Georgia, Colorado, Arizona) strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to mentor junior adjusters, including leading file reviews and coaching through complex claims
  • Advanced ability to memorialize case activity and communications, in writing and verbally, throughout litigation
  • Comfortable moving between simple, high-volume claims and complex litigated files without treating either as beneath the role
  • Experience working directly for an insurance carrier in a fully remote, digital-first environment (Slack, Snapsheet, Excel)
  • Strong decision-making and critical thinking in complex coverage and liability investigations
  • Active adjuster license in good standing, with willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed

The company completely eliminates the severe systemic friction of legacy property and casualty underwriting—where homeowners face artificially inflated premiums from third-party broker commission overhead, generic one-size-fits-all risk modeling, and complex paper-driven application cycles in climate-volatile regions—by deploying an advanced cloud-native quote-and-bind matrix. Moving far beyond traditional, passive legacy insurance networks or basic online aggregators, Kin natively unifies high-resolution multi-source geospatial data analysis, predictive AI weather and structural modeling, algorithmic customized coverage configuration, and seamless direct digital policy issuance into a single high-availability transactional workspace. Managing two highly successful customer-owned reciprocal exchanges and surpassing a prominent $1 billion unicorn valuation, the platform empowers individual homeowners in high-risk coastal and catastrophe-prone geographies to secure comprehensive, affordable coverage with production-hardened underwriting precision. Under the hood, its sophisticated technical core processes thousands of structural and regional data points per property instantly, replacing standard questionnaire assumptions with absolute empirical telemetry, while driving a robust reinsurance tower and a stellar, industry-beating Net Promoter Score. What sets Kin apart is its uncompromising dedication to replacing ancient actuarial guesswork with data-driven predictive momentum; by bridging the gap between performance-intensive structural data analytics and immediate point-of-sale consumer delivery, the firm remains the definitive, category-defining cornerstone of modern insurtech optimization and digital property protection.
