Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer

About the Role: OnBuy is a fast-growing UK online marketplace on a mission to be the best choice for every customer. We are looking for a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer to own our catalogue intelligence. You will build production-grade machine learning systems that power OnBuy's catalogue decisioning engine, directly modifying the live catalogue to improve discovery, data quality, and pricing.

What You'll Do

• Take ownership of how product data is structured, validated, and used across the platform.
• Build directly using SQL and Python on top of BigQuery, Airbyte, and Google Datastream.
• Apply modern approaches such as LLMs, multimodal models, and information extraction to structured and unstructured data.
• Build scalable, testable, and observable ML pipelines from idea through to production impact.

What You Bring

• Experience building and shipping production data or ML systems with measurable business impact.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with the ability to work across end-to-end data pipelines.
• Experience working with messy, unstructured, or semi-structured data (text, images, product data).
• Familiarity with GCP, orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow), and model deployment practices.
• Bonus: Experience with ecommerce or marketplace catalogues.
