Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, process-driven, and analytically sharp Senior Accountant to join our centralized accounting team under a permanent, full-time remote configuration based out of Portugal (leveraging our strategic corporate hub in Lisbon). Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, you will take absolute operational ownership over critical segments of the corporate general ledger, including prepaids, fixed assets, month-end accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations. Shifting completely away from routine standalone front-end visual canvas styling, non-regulated administrative data transcription entry, or basic customer helpdesk ticketing, you will direct an active financial analysis, general ledger governance, and audit-readiness laboratory. This position requires an internal accounting authority with 3+ years of professional history who structures financial closing pipelines fluidly natively using Accountant and corporate treasury methodologies, demonstrates grounded command over US GAAP standards, audits multi-layered account variance fluctuations, and partners across cross-functional Engineering, Marketing, and FP&A units to streamline process adoptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-End Closing Governance: Lead and execute comprehensive month-end close workflows, including the precision preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and complex accrual maps natively utilizing Accountant frameworks.
- Account Fluctuation Analysis: Perform rigorous period-over-period account analyses to investigate, trace, and justify variations across diverse balance sheet and income statement arrays.
- Audit & Reporting Instrumentation: Build and maintain various supporting documentation schedules, ensuring clean data trails for financial statement preparation and annual external audit reviews.
- Cross-Functional Cost Synchronization: Collaborate directly with embedded business vertical leaders across FP&A, Marketing, Services, and Engineering cells to ensure accurate operational activity categorization and complete general ledger accuracy.
- Accounts Payable Integrity Control: Review high-volume AP invoices and partner alongside accounts payable squads to trace underlying business transactions, ensuring precise US GAAP classification and accounting treatment.
- International Accounting Automation: Support international accounting operations and participate hands-on in the design and rollout of new financial tools to optimize workflows and scale corporate controls.
- Ad-Hoc Controller Projects: Drive strategic, data-supported ad-hoc corporate research projects as assigned by the Corporate Controller and Assistant Controller to eliminate processing bottlenecks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 3+ years of proven, professional history operating inside a Senior Accountant, General Ledger Specialist, Corporate Auditor, or closely matching corporate accounting capacity.
- Grounded Regulatory Fluency: Deep, foundational working knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards, internal control principles, and financial statement reconciliation models.
- Demonstrated capability independently managing complex balance sheet modules, tracking prepaids, mapping fixed assets, and calculating corporate close data.
- Outstanding analytical troubleshooting strengths and communication skills in English, with an established capability to synthesize complex financial parameters into clean scannable reports for cross-functional vertical heads.
- Highly organized operator with exceptional attention to detail, capable of driving deliverables independently under a dynamic, growth-oriented tech layout.
- Location Context: Position operates under remote parameters open exclusively to qualified financial professionals residing permanently within Portugal.
- Possess a formal Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related quantitative business field.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior technical or financial experience operating within a high-growth B2B SaaS, e-commerce tech, or digital infrastructure corporate workspace.
- Familiarity with global ERP consolidation systems, automated tax networks, or automated accounts payable processing toollines.
- Active connection with local or regional professional accounting bodies or continuous learning networks based in Europe.
What We Offer
- Competitive European Commerce Tech Package: A transparent, equitable annual base salary structure matching our national pay range of €37.400 - €44.000 EUR, supplemented by equity in the form of stock options and performance rewards.
- 100% remote workspace infrastructure freedom within Portugal, backed by an established corporate hub footprint in Lisbon for synchronized networking.
- Direct High-Scale Operating Credentials: Unique professional milestones achieved by directing general ledger segments for an industry trailblazer on a rapid path to $500M ARR.
- Comprehensive health preservation benefits, premium medical insurance coverages, and flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) structures.
- Access to our inclusive, multi-regional company culture offering robust continuous development avenues, professional development allowances, and an agile team environment built on action and mutual care.
