Job Description

About the Role: The Threat Detection and Response team (TDR) at Airbnb is focused on automating security detection, responding to security incidents, and working with partner teams. As a Security Engineer, you will be on the front lines to detect, investigate, and respond to internal and external security threats and malicious activity.

What You'll Do

  • Perform investigations of security incidents using digital forensics and data analytics.
  • Build automation and detection models to identify anomalous activity and mitigate threats at scale.
  • Hunt for threats proactively in corporate and production environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partner teams, such as Legal, Privacy, and Engineering, for efficient, large-scale response.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in security operations, including investigations, incident response, digital forensics, and threat hunting.
  • Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages, as well as frequent use of SQL and Pandas.
  • Knowledge of the Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK Frameworks.
  • Experience automating security detection and response, with preferred experience in AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) and Elasticsearch.

  • Base pay ranging from $162,000 to $186,000 USD per year.
