Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical, strategically minded Regulatory Compliance Officer to lead and scale our financial crime, AML/CFT, and compliance governance frameworks from within France. In this business-critical role, you will take absolute technical ownership of our post-sales compliance matrix—ensuring all multi-border activities strictly align with French and EU regulatory boundaries. Serving as a primary authority within our Second Line of Defence (2LoD), you will critically review product features, challenge first-line compliance controls, and maintain direct communications with regulatory bodies. This position demands a legal or financial champion who can fluidly translate complex legislative texts into concrete workflows for our engineering and product squads.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance Framework Governance: Maintain, execute, and continually optimize the core compliance framework, internal policies, and operational controls across the enterprise.
- Second Line of Defence (2LoD) Oversight: Run the annual compliance plan and perform thematic reviews focusing on conduct risk, actively challenging first-line AML/CFT implementations.
- Regulatory Workflows Translation: Analyze shifting French and EU financial crime regimes, converting dense legal texts into actionable requirements for product and developer teams.
- Regulatory Advisory Support: Act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior management regarding product change initiatives, onboarding governance, and compliance exposure.
- Authority Relations & Reporting: Serve as a direct point of contact for financial regulatory authorities, managing documentation requests, inquiries, and timely reporting within the France/EU scope.
- Change Management Tracking: Own and scale our Regulatory Change Management system, ensuring upcoming legislative shifts are mapped to internal owners and deployed ahead of deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A verified professional qualification from an internationally recognized compliance body (such as **ICA or ACAMS**).
- Deep, practical technical knowledge of the French and EU regulatory landscapes, with specific experience handling **EMI (Electronic Money Institution) or Crypto/Web3 assets**.
- Proven tracking background managing cross-border regulatory compliance architectures for financial entities operating across multiple EU borders.
- Language Fluency: Native-level command of **French** (for legal interpretation and regulatory reporting) combined with full professional **English** proficiency for group-level documentation.
- A Master’s or advanced degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent quantitative discipline.
- Location Context: 100% remote-first full-time operational flexibility restricted exclusively to qualified compliance professionals permanently located inside France.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior asset management or compliance tracking history operating across additional European jurisdictions (fluency in **German** is highly preferred).
- Familiarity navigating cloud-native fintech auditing environments or collaborating directly with software engineering teams.
