Ansible Health is a virtual multi-specialty medical group merging expertise from institutions like Columbia, Johns Hopkins, Google, and Amazon to revolutionize care for chronic disease patients, with a focus on heart and lung diseases. Backed by top-tier investors, they aim to improve patient outcomes through elite clinical expertise and cutting-edge technology.
The Role at a Glance
Ansible Health is seeking a passionate, compassionate, and intellectually curious Registered Nurse (RN) with a focus on caring for patients with complex chronic medical conditions, particularly cardiac and respiratory disorders such as congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The ideal candidate is self-driven, curious, and eager to innovate patient care.
If you enjoy self-study (e.g., creating flashcards for medical terms), ask probing questions, brainstorm care improvements, or lose track of time thinking about patient cases, this role could be a great fit.
Ansible Health emphasizes mentorship and growth in a supportive environment, believing in the potential of individuals to excel with the right guidance.
What is the Role?
You will join a team of nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and registered nurses to provide direct telemedicine care to patients with advanced chronic lung and heart disease. The patient population is elderly, medically complex, frequently hospitalized, and often burdened by psychosocial challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting telemedicine visits to educate patients about their conditions.
Assessing and triaging adult outpatients with multiple chronic medical conditions, with an emphasis on lung disease and heart failure.
Coordinating care with primary care providers, specialists, and external agencies.
Advocating for patients experiencing major social stressors by activating community resources for medication access, transportation, nutrition, and safe housing.
Serving as the continuous point of contact for patients and families across the entire care spectrum, from transitional post-acute care to advanced care planning.
Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, engineers, designers, and care team members to optimize patient care.
This role also involves promoting the program and answering questions from referring providers as Ansible Health expands.
The position is versatile, blending medical care, education, case management, social work, marketing, and advocacy. Ansible Health fosters transferable skills within one individual rather than creating rigid professional silos, challenging traditional healthcare specialization.
Here are a few examples of recent success stories:
A socially isolated 50-year-old woman with COPD and anxiety disorders was frequently seen in the ER due to panic attacks. The Ansible clinician connected her to a psychotherapist, helped her adopt a dog, and collaborated with providers to taper off multiple psychotropic medications. The patient is now stable at home and no longer visits the ER.
A 67-year-old man with severe COPD and pulmonary cachexia was declined for lung transplantation due to his underweight status and lack of access to pulmonary rehabilitation. The Ansible clinician found a nearby library with WiFi for telemedicine visits, coordinated transportation, provided nutritional guidance, and supervised pulmonary telerehabilitation. The patient’s BMI improved, and he was listed for transplantation.
A 59-year-old woman with severe COPD, heart failure, and unstable atrial fibrillation had been hospitalized 13 times in a year. The Ansible clinician served as a stable contact point, initiating discussions about end-of-life care. The patient entered hospice, and her symptoms were effectively managed.
Supervision: The RN reports to the team lead nurse practitioner to ensure patient care aligns with patient-centered medical goals.
Responsibilities
You will join a diverse, talented, and meritocratic team of clinicians working at the frontier of healthcare. This role involves a steep learning curve and a degree of organized chaos, as changing healthcare culture is challenging. You will bring your energy, wisdom, and passion for learning, while receiving intensive mentorship to grow your skills.
This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial and self-directed RN to be at the leading edge of healthcare innovation.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Certifications
The candidate must possess any combination of education and experience that equips them to practice as a competent RN.
Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program with a minimum of an Associate's Degree.
License/Certification:
Current or compact unrestricted Nursing license in Virginia or Pennsylvania.
5+ years of experience caring for adult patients with medical illness across acute and chronic care, with a strong foundation in Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Urgent Care. Strong triage skills are essential.
1+ year of experience caring for adult outpatients with chronic cardiopulmonary conditions such as COPD, congestive heart failure, and coronary artery disease.
Maintenance of license and continuing nursing education.
Technical: Reliable high-speed internet connection (at least 25 Mbps).
Preferred Qualifications, Experience & Certifications
Experience in telemedicine, cardiac and pulmonary disease, and polypharmacy management is highly valued.
Education: Must hold an Associate’s Degree or higher in nursing.
Licensed in good standing in Virginia or Pennsylvania.
5+ years of experience working with patients having chronic cardiopulmonary diseases such as COPD, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, pulmonary hypertension, congestive heart failure, ischemic heart disease, and post-cardiothoracic surgery.
Proficiency with telemedicine and remote care is preferred.
Prior experience coordinating home health, outpatient respiratory care, and DME services.
Experience in Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs is a plus.
Experience or education in exercise science is preferred (this role includes leading patients in home-bound exercises via telehealth).
Strong interest in learning, deep care for patients, and ability to work as a self-directed team player are essential.

Founded in 2013 by Chas Ballew and Frank Macreery, Aptible specializes in automating the complexities of cloud infrastructure provisioning, management, and scaling—eliminating the need for deep compliance expertise or flawless developer behavior. Unlike traditional infrastructure solutions, Aptible embeds compliance and security directly into its platform, ensuring regulated environments like healthcare or finance can deploy production-grade applications without manual overhead. Under the hood, the platform runs entirely within a customer’s AWS account, abstracting away the operational friction of scaling resources while maintaining strict governance controls. This allows developers and engineering teams to focus on innovation rather than infrastructure, accelerating time-to-market for applications in highly regulated industries. Backed by over $12 million in venture funding, Aptible serves a niche but critical segment of enterprises prioritizing compliance and operational efficiency.
