Job Description

About the Role: A well-established New Zealand construction company specializing in high-quality residential building projects is seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Cost Engineer. You will support end-to-end project cost control and financial administration, ensuring accurate estimating, cost tracking, variations management, and procurement coordination.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare detailed and accurate project quotes covering labour, materials, subcontractors, and margins.
  • Identify, document, and manage project variations, and prepare progress claims and invoices.
  • Monitor project budgets versus actual costs within Buildertrend or a similar system.
  • Track labour hours across active projects and prepare productivity reports.
  • Coordinate material ordering and act as a key link between office, site teams, suppliers, and clients.

What You Bring

  • Experience in Quantity Surveying, estimating, or construction cost administration.
  • Strong proficiency in Buildertrend or similar construction management platforms.
  • Excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bonus: Formal qualification in Quantity Surveying, experience in residential/commercial construction ($1M–$2M range), and familiarity with NZ construction standards (e.g., NZS 3910).
