Bankjoy is a Y Combinator and Bessemer Venture Partner-backed FinTech startup revolutionizing banking tech infrastructure for community banks and credit unions. The Vendor Integration team manages all fintech connections, including payment vendors, fraud solutions, data aggregators, and SSO integrations.

đź’Ľ The Role

The team consists of five engineers and one QA, with a generalist approach across vendor integrations. As the sole Product Manager, you will:

  • Own every Product Requirements Document (PRD), vendor decision, and roadmap for integrations.
  • Have direct impact from decisions to production.

🧠 What You'll Do

  • Take vendors from first call to production. Analyze vendor API packages (Swagger specs, Postman collections, SSO/iFrame guides, certification checklists) to uncover undocumented requirements. Lead vendor discussions, manage scope and timelines, and oversee pilot client relationships through UAT and go-live.

  • Write specs engineers love to build from. Create clear, actionable PRDs and context docs covering vendor requirements, gaps, tech debt, decisions, and open questions. Conduct readiness checks before engineering begins and break epics into small, testable stories for QA confidence.

  • Do your own technical diligence. Review our .NET backend and Angular frontend to understand existing integrations. Identify surprises early, assess reusability, and occasionally ship small changes yourself if faster than ticketing.

  • Coordinate across teams. Collaborate with authentication, banking core, and product teams (account opening, lending, PFM) to align on vendor dependencies.

  • Document what ships. Author product feature specs, vendor implementation guides, and client test guides for the Implementation team. Draft quarterly release notes and retire outdated documentation.

  • Design without waiting. Create Figma drafts using our design system and build HTML prototypes for complex flows.

  • Build your own tooling. Automate repetitive PM tasks, develop AI agent skills for the team, maintain a structured knowledge base, and select efficient tools.

  • Lead the squad. Set priorities with the Tech Lead, sequence the roadmap against client contracts and vendor certifications, run sprint planning and backlog grooming, and manage the Jira board. Quickly resolve technical questions like “bug vs. setting.”

📉 What You'll Own

  • Payments. Consumer/business bill pay, account-to-account transfers, and peer-to-peer payments, including user-facing flows, vendor SSO, and client-specific configurations.

  • Cards. Card management and SSO across processors and card programs.

  • Data and identity. External account linking, identity verification, credit scores, and payroll/subscription connectivity.

  • Documents and imaging. eStatement SSO and check-image retrieval across multiple providers.

  • New vendors. Shape quarterly integrations for new client contracts.

🎯 What You Bring

Product Management:

  • 4+ years as a B2B product manager with at least 2 years in integrations, payments, or fintech infrastructure.
  • Experience shipping at least one third-party integration end-to-end (vendor evaluation, requirements, certification, pilot, production).
  • Clear, concise writing (short sentences, active voice, no filler).
  • Vendor relationship management where vendor processes dictate timelines.
  • Technical:

    • Ability to read C# and TypeScript to trace code paths, spot gaps, and estimate changes.
    • Familiarity with git (branches, rebases, PRs) and API auth patterns (OAuth, SAML, JWKS, signed URLs, iframe postMessage).
    • Deriving requirements from OpenAPI specs or Postman collections.
    • Understanding of PCI scope for flows.
    • Domain:

      • Knowledge of how fintech products integrate with banks (core vs. vendor data). Direct core experience is a plus.
      • Understanding of credit union/community bank buyers (institutional and user needs).
      • Ways of Working:

        • Document decisions in real-time with reasoning.
        • Ship first drafts quickly and iterate openly.
        • Daily use of AI tools (showcase a workflow, not just prompts).
