Product Manager (Observability & Compute/Network) at Addepar

The Role

Addepar is seeking a Product Manager to lead the roadmap for the Observability and Compute/Network teams within the Foundation Engineering organization. This role focuses on defining and executing the roadmap for:

• Observability: Metrics, logs, tracing, alerting, on-call tooling, SLOs, and dashboards.
• Compute/Network: Provisioning, container orchestration, networking, security posture, capacity planning, and cost management.

You’ll collaborate with Foundation Engineering to translate reliability risks, infrastructure constraints, and platform strategy into a prioritized, outcome-driven roadmap. This role reports to product leadership within Developer Platform and partners daily with engineering leadership for Observability and Compute/Network.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the product roadmap for Observability and Compute/Network, covering:
• Metrics/logging/tracing platforms, alerting, on-call tooling, SLO/error-budget frameworks, and dashboards.
• Compute provisioning, container orchestration, networking, service mesh, capacity planning, and infrastructure cost management.
• Balance reliability, security risks, developer needs, capacity constraints, and cost to prioritize investments.
• Define and track outcomes like:
• SLO attainment, time to detect/restore service, self-service adoption, provisioning lead time, and infrastructure cost per unit.
• Drive self-service adoption for instrumentation, dashboards, and compute/network provisioning via secure, policy-compliant pathways.
• Collaborate with Information Security and Risk (ISR) to translate security requirements into roadmap priorities (e.g., secure defaults, access controls, auditability).
• Gather feedback from engineering teams via incident retrospectives, on-call surveys, and direct engagement to identify gaps and roadmap priorities.
• Represent roadmaps to platform leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners, communicating tradeoffs and progress.
• Monitor industry trends in:
• Observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog).
• Compute/network infrastructure (Kubernetes, service mesh, cloud networking, cost optimization).

Qualifications

• Prior product management experience, ideally owning infrastructure-facing products (observability, SRE tooling, cloud compute, or networking platforms).
• Ability to define a product roadmap and deliver infrastructure capabilities, translating ambiguous problems into scoped, prioritized work.
• Technical fluency in:
• Observability (metrics, logs, distributed tracing, SLOs/error budgets).
• Compute/networking (cloud compute, containers/Kubernetes, networking).
• Track record managing product development for infrastructure/platform capabilities with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to align engineering leads, platform leadership, and product engineering teams.
• Ability to prioritize investments based on reliability, security, and cost (e.g., MTTD/MTTR, SLO attainment, vulnerability remediation SLAs, cost efficiency).
• Experience with:
• Observability platforms (Sumo Logic, Wavefront, Sentry).
• Compute/network tooling (Kubernetes, Terraform, cloud-provider networking/cost-management tools).
• Familiarity with SRE practices (SLOs, error budgets, incident management, on-call process design).
• Experience in financial services or regulated-industry engineering environments.
• Proven ability to drive infrastructure adoption and self-service models across large, distributed teams.
• Experience partnering with globally distributed engineering teams across time zones.
