Sezzle is revolutionizing the shopping experience by blending cutting-edge tech with flexible payment options, empowering consumers and driving merchant sales through increased conversions and higher order values. As a fintech leader, Sezzle is building an innovative team passionate about creating a unique shopping journey.

About the Role:

Sezzle is seeking a curious, driven, and thoughtful Product Intern to join their Payments & Fees team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with abundant prospects for career advancement.

The Payments & Fees team operates at the intersection of technology, data, and business, collaborating with payment processors, providers, and cross-functional partners. As a product intern, you won’t just observe—you’ll participate in decision-making, adapt quickly, and contribute to a team that values craftsmanship and speed.

You’ll support the product manager in a high-throughput environment, helping organize the backlog, analyze payment data, and collaborate with engineering, design, and data teams. Product management is dynamic, with no two days the same, as you’ll constantly switch between technical conversations, business problems, and user needs.

What You’ll Do:

Ticket Management & Product Support

  • Assist the product manager in drafting, organizing, and tracking tickets for changes and improvements to the payments service, ensuring work is well-documented, prioritized, and moving through the backlog. Follow up on status and surface blockers when needed.

Context Gathering & Stakeholder Support

  • Help the product manager stay on top of inputs from multiple stakeholders by gathering background context, summarizing key information, and preparing materials ahead of provider meetings. Respond to routine internal questions by pulling the right information from available resources.

Payment Workflow Analysis

  • Learn and apply SQL to query payment data and support the creation and maintenance of dashboards tracking payment performance, processing failures, and operational health. Help flag anomalies in payment flows and assist in assembling data for reviews and investigations.

Documentation & Process Tracking

  • Maintain clear internal documentation for payment flows, fee structures, and operational processes. Help keep cross-functional teams aligned with concise, well-structured written updates.

Agile Meetings

  • Participate in agile meetings and collaborate with engineering, operations, compliance, and support teams. Act as a bridge between tech and business, translating technical challenges into clear language and business needs into actionable requirements.

What We Look For:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or a related field
  • A genuine interest in payments, fintech, and complex financial systems
  • Natural curiosity and a logical mindset—enjoy working through problems, asking questions, and finding solutions
  • Strong attention to detail—notice inconsistencies and follow through until resolved
  • Comfort working with data and willingness to learn SQL (prior experience is a plus but not required)
  • Effective written and verbal communication—summarize complex topics clearly and ask insightful questions
  • Prior experience in internships, projects, or extracurriculars related to product, fintech, data analysis, or startups is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience working with Claude or equivalent large language model tools—candidates must be comfortable leveraging AI to enhance productivity, research, and communication

About You:

  • You have relentlessly high standards—you drive others to deliver great results and ensure defects are fixed permanently
  • You’re not bound by convention—you develop new ways to do things
  • You value speed and calculated risk-taking—many decisions are reversible and don’t require extensive study
  • You earn trust—you listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully
  • You have backbone—you respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree and commit fully once a decision is made
  • You deliver results—focus on key inputs with the right quality and timeliness, never settling despite setbacks

What Makes Working at Sezzle Awesome:

At Sezzle, they surround themselves with the best and brightest individuals. Their culture is defined by the visible example of excellence in every employee.

Sezzle is a purpose-driven, publicly-traded financial technology company that operates in the 'Buy Now, Pay Later' (BNPL) space. Its core mission is to 'financially empower the next generation' by allowing consumers to purchase items immediately and pay for them in interest-free installments over time. Unlike traditional credit cards that rely on heavy interest charges, Sezzle does not charge the consumer interest if payments are made on time.
