About Counterpart: Counterpart (yourcounterpart.com) is a high-velocity insurtech platform reimagining management and professional liability for the modern corporate workplace. Grounded in the firm conviction that businesses thrive when leading with complete clarity and structural confidence, Counterpart built the world’s first Agentic Insurance™ system—an advanced paradigm where sophisticated multi-agent AI networks and deep underwriting expertise come together to proactively assess, mitigate, and govern enterprise operational risk. Backed by A-rated carrier networks and trusted by commercial insurance brokers nationwide, Counterpart collapses complex risk structures to help small businesses grow under our core guiding principal: Do More With Less Risk®.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-minded, and execution-obsessed full-stack Product Engineer to join our fully distributed engineering division under a permanent, full-time fully remote engagement framework based anywhere in the United States. Operating as a highly autonomous domain owner, you will step up to claim direct technical, requirements-gathering, and system delivery accountability over collapsing the distance between core business problems and high-leverage software solutions. Shifting completely away from routine ticket monitoring, passive task-list execution, or basic code-patch editing, you will run an active high-throughput relational backend, interactive frontend component, and automated AI agent orchestration laboratory—partnering face-to-face with cross-functional stakeholders, partner engineering squads, and internal principal software architects. This position requires a full-stack generalist with 3+ years of web engineering experience who constructs robust software engines fluidly natively using Python and Django backends, evaluates the code accuracy and edge cases of generative AI outputs cleanly, and directs system-wide non-functional requirements confidently to maintain production-grade performance at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-Stack Problem Ownership: Discover, scope, and resolve complex application problems independently, translating vague stakeholder intents into crisp functional specifications that engineers and AI agents can build against.
  • Multi-Layer Web Engineering: Code, test, and ship production-quality, end-to-end features across all layers of our tech stack, leveraging Python, Django, AWS cloud services, React, and PostgreSQL databases.
  • AI-Native Agent Orchestration: Direct autonomous developer agents (Claude Code, Cursor, OpenAI Codex), review their code outputs with extreme domain depth, and systematically patch functional gaps, edge cases, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Context Harness Engineering: Maintain, refine, and optimize the context documentation harness and internal design system libraries that enable multi-agent tools to operate autonomously with higher reliability over time.
  • System Verification and Delivery: Take personal responsibility for validating end-to-end system results, ensuring that shipped architectures match requirement criteria and actively move business metrics.
  • Production System Monitoring: Monitor deployed web services in production environments, maintain data observability signals, debug runtime exceptions, and participate in technical support engineering rotations.
  • Technical Debt Management: Drive pragmatic architectural decisions in a fast-paced startup environment, balancing swift feature shipping against structured system cleanup and long-term maintainability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of verified professional history building, deploying, and supporting production-grade web applications across the complete full stack.
  • Demonstrated technical command over backend runtime architectures, displaying strong hands-on development depth with Python and Django frameworks.
  • Applied professional proficiency designing responsive UI components and handling state architecture via modern frontend frameworks like React.
  • Deep conceptual and practical familiarity leveraging advanced AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent) to accelerate delivery velocity.
  • Proven history gathering software requirements directly from end users, partner engineering teams, and cross-functional corporate stakeholders.
  • Strong background managing database operations, query construction, and data persistence models using relational frameworks such as PostgreSQL.
  • Excellent communication and breakdown skills, with a proven ability to translate complex low-level engineering abstractions cleanly across product and business teams.
  • Location Context: Position features 100% remote parameters open exclusively to qualified full-stack engineers residing permanently within the United States.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior engineering background building or scaling applications inside fast-growing insurtech platforms, corporate fintech, automated underwriting networks, or heavily regulated compliance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated background managing behind-the-scenes system infrastructure, encompassing custom authentication integrations, complex data failure handling, and automated metrics telemetry on AWS.

What We Offer

  • Vetted, Autonomy-Driven Insurtech Salary Blueprint: An exceptionally competitive baseline annual salary starting at $110,000+, precisely calibrated against experience level and local market data, alongside meaningful stock options.
  • The spectacular professional canvas to build and optimize the foundational application layer under the world’s premier Agentic Insurance platform.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering an autonomous digital workspace, flexible scheduling options, and a supportive, low-ego team culture.
  • Uncapped vacation parameters alongside corporate-sponsored 401(k) financial retirement matching structures and immediate health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Comprehensive company allowances including home office equipment stipends, dedicated wellness allowances, book purchasing stipends, and professional development reimbursements.
  • Unique lifestyle allowances including an absolute corporate policy ensuring zero working birthdays to let technical innovators recharge with loved ones.
