About Slingshot Aerospace: At Slingshot Aerospace, we are on a mission to make space safer and more secure for everyone. Our work directly impacts global security, disaster response, climate monitoring, and the critical infrastructure that connects our world. We are a distributed team of builders, thinkers, and problem-solvers who believe that the next generation of space operations will be powered by better data and smarter software. Moving fast and scaling with extreme intentionality, we build intelligent frameworks to manage orbital mechanics and structural tracking capabilities globally.
Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic, high-agency individual contributor to join our product squad as a Product Designer. This critical role blends product thinking, complex modular systems design, and deep user empathy to craft elegant end-to-end user experiences for highly sophisticated tracking environments—including aerospace telemetry data arrays, AI decision tools, and real-time 3D operational landscapes. You will lead high-impact design initiatives, shape multi-quarter cross-functional strategies, and elevate visual standards while balancing usability metrics against technical and business constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Vision & Strategy: Drive the design vision for your dedicated product vertical, linking long-term user expectations cleanly with near-term engineering execution loops.
- End-to-End UX/UI Execution: Own the entire design lifecycle—moving from deep user discovery, information architecture mapping, and wireframes to high-fidelity interaction specs and production-ready visual assets.
- Information-Dense System Modeling: Craft intuitive, responsive interfaces that balance system-level hierarchy, typography, motion mechanics, and accessibility across spatial, data-rich, and mission-critical platform areas.
- Research & Validation: Partner with UX researchers and aerospace domain experts to conduct active product testing, grounding all design decisions in behavioral telemetry and empirical evidence.
- Design System Evolution: Contribute to and expand Slingshot's centralized design system, UI tokens, and visual layout frameworks to ensure cross-platform cohesion and scalability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a proactive thought partner to product management and engineering squads, comfortably navigating design trade-offs, managing risks, and championing a user-centered product culture.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional product design experience, with a clear track record of independently leading complex, multi-stakeholder application initiatives.
- Demonstrated tracking history delivering user-centered software solutions within fast-paced, ambiguous early-stage or enterprise startup environments.
- Bachelor's degree in a design-related field (e.g., Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Design, Interaction Design) or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong visual craft and interaction design skills backed by a comprehensive portfolio demonstrating shipped web applications that harmonize creativity and business value.
- Excellent verbal and graphic communication mechanics with the ability to build frameworks, playbooks, and design critique guidelines.
- Clearance Mandate: Must be eligible to obtain or maintain a United States Government Security Clearance (with preference given to active Top Secret clearance architectures).
- Location Context: 100% remote working infrastructure flexibility open to qualified design professionals residing within the United Kingdom or the following approved U.S. states: AL, AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, HI, IN, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, RI, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WV.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance.
- Advanced operational mastery of industry-standard collaborative workspace applications including Figma, Lucidcharts, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Direct operational background working with modular interfaces, aerospace tracking frameworks, geospatial technology, 3D data visualization, or real-time simulation software dashboards.
What We Offer
- The exceptional runway to engineer user interfaces directly safeguarding global aerospace and satellite infrastructure networks.
- Highly competitive compensation package calibrated strictly based on your portfolio design craft and technical experience depth.
- 100% remote-first operational freedom within an aligned, highly technical, and supportive culture that values curiosity over ego.
- Streamlined application routing and pipeline tracking processed directly through advanced Greenhouse ATS frameworks.
