Product Designer

About the Role: Matterworks is building foundation models to make biology's dark matter legible. We are looking for a Product Designer to shape how scientists interact with Pyxis, our application layer for foundation models of biochemical data. You will help invent the patterns that make our models accessible across emerging surfaces, including our MCP connector and agentic interfaces.

What You'll Do

• Produce design explorations at high velocity through sketching, Figma, and coded prototypes (Claude, v0).
• Craft beautiful final designs with a high bar of polish in typography, hierarchy, and interaction.
• Turn recurring patterns into reusable components across the web app, MCP, and agentic surfaces.
• Understand users deeply through interviews, customer calls, and session replay reviews.
• Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and scientists to align on user needs and tradeoffs.

What You Bring

• 3+ to 6+ years of experience with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of complex product surfaces and systems thinking.
• Fluency in Figma, rapid-prototyping tools (Claude, v0, Cursor), and clear written communication.
• Experience designing data-dense interfaces like tables, plots, and dashboards.
• Curiosity about scientific domains (mass spectrometry, omics) and comfort pairing with engineers.
• Bonus: Experience designing AI-powered, agentic, or model-driven products.
