Principal Software Engineer, Applications

About the Role: Weave is a leading all-in-one customer experience and payments software platform for small and medium-sized healthcare businesses. We are seeking a Principal Engineer to serve as a technical cornerstone of our Applications Fellowship. You will shape technical strategy at the company level, influence architectural decisions across multiple teams, and own the multi-year technical vision for core systems like Payments, Scheduling, and RCM.

What You'll Do

• Own the multi-year technical vision for application platforms, ensuring architectural decisions position Weave for scale and reliability.
• Drive architectural coherence across multiple teams, identifying and resolving cross-system dependencies.
• Identify and solve company-level technical problems that span organizational boundaries.
• Actively mentor Staff and Senior Engineers, elevating architectural thinking and building organizational capability.
• Lead technical due diligence for major initiatives, including build-vs-buy decisions and platform migrations.

What You Bring

• 15+ years of software engineering experience with progressive technical leadership scope.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems architecture, event streaming (Kafka, Pub/Sub), and scalable data stores (PostgreSQL, NoSQL).
• Operational experience with cloud-native infrastructure on GCP or AWS, including Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code.
• Solid backend engineering foundation (Go preferred; Python, Java, or C# acceptable).
• Bonus: Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, telecommunications, or compliance-heavy environments (healthcare, fintech).
