Principal Product Operations Manager
Job Description
Key Skills Required
Master these to land this role
Want to know if you're a match for this job?
Product Operations exists to give product teams the systems, data, and processes they need to plan, prioritize, and deliver well. This role sits at the center of this discipline, owning four key areas:
- Tools and systems product teams plan and work in,
- Reporting and analytics that give everyone visibility into progress,
- Process to make planning and delivery repeatable, and
- Keeping strategy and execution connected as priorities shift.
Socure operates a hybrid centralized/embedded model, where some Product Ops work is centralized and serves all product teams, while other work is embedded within individual product lines. This role sits in the centralized hub, acting as the shared engine for systems, process, and reporting that all embedded product managers and Product Ops partners rely on.
This is a broad role for a small team. At larger companies, these responsibilities might be split across multiple roles, but here, one person handles all of it with flexibility to adapt as priorities and team size evolve.
What You'll Do
Own the product systems & tools stack
- Administer and configure the core product management/roadmapping platform (e.g., Aha!, Productboard, or equivalent), including workspaces, fields, workflows, scorecards, and permissions.
- Manage the connection between the product management platform and engineering work-tracking systems (e.g., Jira), ensuring field mapping, status sync, and data consistency.
- Evaluate and maintain the broader product tech stack, preventing tool sprawl and managing integrations across roadmap, delivery, feedback, and CRM systems.
- Build and maintain intake and prioritization workflows for product teams.
- Document system configurations and standard operating procedures to ensure knowledge isn’t siloed.
Support reporting & analytics for the Product Org
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports for leadership and embedded product teams, tracking roadmap status, delivery progress, and portfolio health.
- Define and track core product operations metrics (e.g., cycle time, roadmap adherence, planning hygiene, tool adoption).
- Centralize Product Performance metrics, telemetry builds, and coordinate with the Business Intelligence team for deeper insights and faster decision-making.
- Partner with Finance, Sales/RevOps, and Engineering to integrate commercial and delivery data into product prioritization and reporting.
- Support recurring reporting cadences (business reviews, quarterly/annual planning, board updates) with clean, trusted data.
- Monitor data quality and enforce hygiene standards across reporting systems.
Drive process, efficiency & team enablement
- Design and document repeatable processes for planning, prioritization, intake, and roadmap reviews to ensure consistency across teams.
- Identify and eliminate friction points, manual work, and inefficiencies in the product development lifecycle through better process, automation, or tooling.
- Create templates, playbooks, and checklists (e.g., for feature intake, roadmap reviews, launch readiness) to save product managers time.
- Act as the go-to resource for product managers and embedded Product Ops partners on shared tools and processes, including training and documentation.
- Facilitate cross-functional handoffs between Product, Engineering, Design, and GTM to ensure smooth workflows.
- Continuously standardize processes while allowing flexibility for individual team needs.
Keep strategy and execution aligned
- Partner with product leadership to translate high-level strategy into a concrete, trackable roadmap and planning cadence.
- Run the rhythm of planning (quarterly/annual planning cycles, roadmap reviews, business reviews) to keep execution aligned with strategy.
- Monitor progress against strategic priorities and flag early when execution drifts from intended goals.
- Support trade-off and prioritization conversations when competing asks conflict with strategic priorities.
- Ensure work inside individual pods visibly aligns with company-level strategic themes.
- Close the loop after major planning moments to reflect decisions in day-to-day systems.
