Principal Design Engineer

About the Role: AlphaSense is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to play a key role in shaping the future of our product experience. Operating at the intersection of design, engineering, and product strategy, you will translate complex, data-rich problems into high-quality, production-ready experiences. As a senior individual contributor, you will lead through craft, systems thinking, and technical excellence to build AI-powered workflows.

What You'll Do

• Create high-fidelity, coded prototypes and interaction models that bring complex, AI-powered workflows to life.
• Own high-impact initiatives from concept through production, shipping experiences reflecting strong design thinking and technical rigor.
• Advance AlphaSense’s design system as a core piece of product infrastructure, defining scalable patterns.
• Lead technical design discussions, make architectural decisions, and guide cross-team implementation efforts.
• Act as a senior leader within the Design team, mentoring designers and engineers while championing design quality.

What You Bring

• 12+ years of experience in product design, design/UX/front-end engineering, or design systems.
• Hands-on experience with modern front-end technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React) and evolving design systems.
• Expertise with modern AI technologies (e.g., MCP, Claude Code, Codex, Skills) and experience applying them to design problems.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and end-to-end customer workflows.
• Excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience in project leadership and mentorship.
