The Opportunity: Griffin seeks an Operational Controls Lead to establish and manage the first-line controls program. This role involves building and scaling controls frameworks, ensuring operational accuracy, and providing confidence to leadership through QA/QC testing, risk management, and MI reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and quality control testing across operations, ensuring processes align with approved procedures.
- Perform sample-based testing and control checks, identifying errors, control gaps, exceptions, and operational risks.
- Develop and implement corrective action and remediation plans in collaboration with operations teams.
- Lead the Service guild controls attestation framework and support risk owners in first-line RCSA exercises.
- Design QA/QC testing frameworks, control checklists, sampling methodologies, and quality standards.
- Generate regular QA/QC reporting and MI, contributing to Griffin-wide operational risk reporting.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, compliance, risk, and regulatory reviews, providing evidence of operational controls.
Expected Contributions: This role is flexible and evolving. You’ll define how to achieve outcomes, focus on critical gaps, and shape the role’s trajectory based on customer needs and technical challenges.
Required Background:
- 5+ years of experience in Operations QA/QC, control testing, transaction testing, or operational risk management within a bank or financial institution.
- Proven ability to review operational processes, identify errors, exceptions, control weaknesses, and process gaps.
- Experience making recommendations to strengthen controls.
- Strong analytical and MI/data analysis skills, with experience producing QA/QC reports, dashboards, and trend analysis.
- Ability to challenge operations constructively and operate with an independent control mindset.
- Strong writing skills for creating clear, readable documentation.
