The Observability Project Manager is responsible for the management of assigned technical projects. The role involves executing day-to-day management of project segments and overseeing the entire group of projects, acting as a single point of knowledge and control.

Responsibilities

  • Guiding various project teams and client organizations on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight AHEAD’s clients.
  • Guiding assigned project teams on maximizing self-organization.
  • Coaching teams to fill intentional gaps in Agile/Scrum frameworks and assessing Scrum maturity.
  • Removing impediments or guiding teams to resolve them by identifying the right personnel.
  • Building a trusting environment for problem-solving without fear of blame or judgment.
  • Facilitating work completion without coercion or dictation.
  • Facilitating discussions, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
  • Supporting internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Assisting and educating the Product Sponsor on grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
  • Providing servant leadership support and leading by example.
  • Performing analysis of resource utilization for projects and measuring future resource allocation needs.
  • Establishing and driving ongoing development of additional services revenue opportunities within the client’s environment.
  • Understanding client needs and matching them to relevant services or products; managing client expectations.
  • Understanding and communicating project goals and critical success factors; persuasively selling ideas.
  • Planning and coordinating all aspects of technical projects from initiation through delivery.
  • Ensuring service delivery success and client satisfaction through effective project management.
  • Managing project initiation activities, including identification of contractual obligations, client needs, goals, and necessary contacts.
  • Developing, defining, and executing project plans, scope, activities, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Identifying needed resources for projects and defining major project roles.
  • Coordinating activities and tasks among project team members, internal departments, and client/vendor organizations.
  • Assigning and monitoring project team work, providing technical and analytical support.
  • Interfacing with clients on technical matters as needed.
  • Managing project risks, issues, and activity progress to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Assisting with problem resolution or risk mitigation.
  • Managing integration of vendor/subcontractor tasks and tracking deliverables.
  • Conducting project closure activities to formalize acceptance, handover documentation, and ongoing activities.
  • Identifying project management coordination process gaps and recommending solutions.
  • Utilizing AHEAD systems (Salesforce, financialforce, etc.) to maintain updated project information.

Qualifications

  • Observability implementation project experience (Dynatrace, Tanium, Logic Monitor, Cribl, Splunk, and/or Grafana).
  • Strong ability to independently manage medium to high risk, high complexity, and high client visibility projects.
  • Knowledgeable of project management standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Knowledgeable of industry project management best practices (PMBOK).
  • Knowledgeable of the company’s products and services.
  • Solid understanding of various types of IT project methodologies and life cycles.
  • Excellent analysis, problem-solving, team, conflict management, and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with data center infrastructure hardware and/or software.
  • Advanced skills in project management software.
  • Ability to manage project budgets and timelines.
  • Adept at negotiation techniques to reach agreement on differing viewpoints.
  • Effective facilitation with executive-level clients.
  • Ability to set clear expectations, manage team performance, and build high morale.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive assignments.
