Lead Risk Analytics Data Scientist

About the Role: Extend is revolutionizing the post-purchase experience with AI-driven solutions. You will join our centralized Risk, Analytics & Data Science team to play an essential role in risk monitoring for product and shipping protection offerings. This is a unique opportunity to build pricing infrastructure, convert analytics into business impact, and own the risk narrative with senior leadership.

What You'll Do

• Design premium structures from first principles for new merchant categories and partnerships.
• Turn monitoring functions into a decision engine by building tooling for claims initiatives and premium adjustments.
• Own the risk narrative with senior leadership, explaining loss ratio movements to the C-suite.
• Build and shape the data foundation for Risk Analytics using dbt and Snowflake.
• Leverage AI tools (like Claude) to automate manual steps in the risk analytics workflow and improve team efficiency.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience working on actuarial pricing, predictive modeling, or other Risk Analytics related areas.
• Strong analytical and data skills spanning SQL, Python or R, pipeline development (dbt, Snowflake), and visualization tools (Tableau, Streamlit).
• Ability to dive deep into data and communicate insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Bonus: Relevant Actuarial experience (such as ACAS) and a strong passion for using new AI tools.
