Lead Product Designer

About the Role: Upwork is the world's human and AI-powered work marketplace. We are looking for a Lead Product Designer to join our Growth & Monetization team to design and optimize high-impact growth loops and monetization surfaces across our two-sided marketplace.

What You'll Do

• Own end-to-end product design from identifying funnel opportunities to rapid concepting, launch, and iteration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ship experiments that move key metrics across acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization.
• Drive experimentation and continuous improvement by running A/B tests and conducting qualitative user research.
• Design, test, and refine targeted experiences like onboarding, upsell flows, pricing, and incentives.
• Mentor others, contribute to design culture, and champion design quality across the team.

What You Bring

• Proven experience designing and optimizing growth funnels with clear examples of measurable impact.
• Strong experimentation toolkit (A/B testing, rapid iteration, metric selection) and comfort shipping in fast cycles.
• Mastery of tools like Figma, plus experience with user testing and AI prototyping tools (v0, Figma Make).
• Ability to design transparent, trustworthy value exchange in monetization experiences.
• Strong communicator and collaborator capable of influencing product strategy through data-informed design decisions.
