About Instrumentl: Instrumentl is a highly profitable, hyper-growth, YC-backed enterprise SaaS platform building the centralized institutional operating system for grant-funded organizations worldwide. Over 5,500 ambitious nonprofits, universities, and massive conservation societies—including the San Diego Zoo and the University of Alaska—rely on Instrumentl to discover, track, and secure global funding streams. Together, our users have managed over $1 billion through our interface. Doubling ARR year-over-year with market-leading product-market fit scores (NPS 65+, Ellis PMF 60+), we are expanding our data team to build products that unlock real physical and social impacts.

Position Overview

We are seeking a high-agency, business-oriented Lead Product Analyst to step in as Instrumentl’s absolute first dedicated analytics hire. In this foundational individual contributor track, you will own the product analytics function from the ground up—designing company-wide KPIs, data frameworks, tool choices, and behavioral modeling strategies. Embedded roughly 60% of your time with our Product Growth squads (Acquisition and Activation), you will lead end-to-end algorithmic experimentation and prioritize data-informed hypotheses. The remaining 40% will be spent mapping out our central semantic data layer to enable clean self-serve access for product managers, UX designers, and account executives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Founding Function Architecture: Build and scale Instrumentl’s product data analytics playbook from scratch, defining data schemas, self-serve instrumentation tools, and automated testing runbooks.
  • Growth Experimentation Partnership: Partner tightly with Growth Engineering squads to design rigorous A/B experiments, validate activation funnels, and analyze complex product interaction data to drive net-new ARR.
  • Semantic Layer Modeling: Architect and scale our centralized enterprise semantic data layer within Omni, ensuring all departments can independently run self-serve data queries with absolute confidence.
  • Source-of-Truth Dashboard Engineering: Design and maintain global corporate analytical dashboards that connect real-time product features usage metrics to macro business indicators including CAC payback, activation velocities, net-retention, and ROI.
  • Pipeline & Schema Validation: Collaborate alongside Data Platform and Backend squads to monitor, audit, and safeguard telemetry pipeline integrity across Heap, BigQuery, and Omni layers.
  • Cross-Functional Comms Translation: Turn complex mathematical derivations and event-driven data clusters into clear, actionable narratives for cross-functional leads and senior executive leadership committees.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Founding-analyst profile: Demonstrated background operating as the first or early-stage analytics hire at a fast-moving SaaS or Product-Led Growth (PLG) technology enterprise, establishing functions from scratch.
  • 5+ years of verified professional experience managing end-to-end product analytics, acquisition growth loops, or behavioral telemetry tracking systems.
  • Expert-level, production-grade SQL data-mining capabilities (with direct modeling proficiency inside cloud-native data warehouses like BigQuery).
  • Hands-on operational command over behavioral product event tools and tracking infrastructure (specifically Heap, Amplitude, or Mixpanel) to validate tracking endpoints.
  • Strong statistical experimentation foundations, comfortable designing clean A/B tests, applying numerical rigor, and interpreting complex outcomes under realistic certainty levels.
  • Working development proficiency leveraging quantitative data science scripting languages (such as Python or R) to execute deep data mining.
  • Clear financial business intuition to connect core user session mechanics directly to financial metrics (conversion rates, funnel leakage vectors, customer lifetime value).
  • Location Context: 100% remote-first workspace flexibility open to qualified product data analysts based anywhere within the **United States or Canada** (Must hold valid regional work authorization).

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior experience architecting, deploying, or expanding a company-wide experimentation platform or algorithmic user targeting matrix.
  • Exposure to advanced financial or operation analytics, including multi-touch attribution setups, funnel contribution modeling, or specialized SaaS attribution frameworks.
  • Familiarity navigating modern data stack tools and transformations layers such as dbt, Fivetran, or Airflow pipelines.

What We Offer

  • Base Salary Bracket (US Candidates): $160,000 – $180,000 USD per annum (Plus lucrative corporate equity options, calibrated precisely based on verified skills audit scores, qualifications, and physical address coordinates. Canadian compensation details vary by province and are shared transparently early in the process).
  • 100% company-covered health, dental, and vision insurance for individuals (coupled with 50% comprehensive plan coverage for eligible dependents).
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) allowances alongside robust, inclusive paid parental leave options.
  • Company-matched 401(k) retirement savings plan infrastructure.
  • One-time home-office setup stipend to engineer an ergonomic remote environment, plus a company-provided premium laptop.
  • Bi-annual all-expenses-paid corporate team retreats to connect, brainstorm, and celebrate our collective growth.
