Lead Manager, Accounting

About the Role: Joining Make-A-Wish means becoming part of a mission that believes in the power of a wish. We are seeking a Lead Manager, Accounting for our Shared Financial Services (SFS) team to manage financial reporting for a portfolio of chapters. You will provide strong customer service, guide internal improvements, and serve as a leader of both people and initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Manage all financial reporting aspects for a portfolio of chapters, including monthly financial statements, bank/investment reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Lead and manage members of the accounting team, setting expectations, providing feedback, and serving as an advisor in accounting practices.
• Monitor chapter performance against budget and national benchmarking metrics, explaining significant variances.
• Act as the key staff person in the annual internal and external audit process communicating with external auditors.
• Ensure appropriate recording of revenue and payments in accordance with GAAP and Make-A-Wish policies.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field with 3+ years of experience in accounting and/or financial reporting.
• Minimum of 2 years of people leadership experience.
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP and excellent internal and management control systems.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with demonstrated expertise in Excel.
• Bonus: Nonprofit accounting experience, CPA designation, and experience in Salesforce and NetSuite.
