Lead Hardware Engineer

About the Role: Panoptyc is an AI-powered retail security and loss prevention platform. We are looking for a Lead Hardware Engineer who lives at the intersection of embedded systems, cloud-connected edge infrastructure, and computer vision. You will own the full lifecycle of our edge device platform—from hardware selection to deployment pipelines and remote management.

What You'll Do

• Design, configure, and maintain edge compute solutions on Raspberry Pi CM4/CM5, NVIDIA Jetson, and similar embedded Linux platforms.
• Architect systemd service definitions and build Docker container orchestration strategies for CV inference workloads.
• Own our AWS IoT Core integration and design AWS Greengrass component deployments for managing edge workloads at scale.
• Integrate with IP camera ecosystems using RTSP and ONVIF, and build integrations with POS systems in real-time.
• Tune model inference for constrained hardware (TensorRT, ONNX) and optimize memory, thermal, and power envelopes.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with embedded Linux systems and edge hardware deployment in production environments.
• Deep expertise with AWS IoT Core and AWS Greengrass for fleet management and OTA updates.
• Strong Python programming skills and solid Docker experience (multi-stage builds, resource constraints).
• Fluency with Linux systemd and practical experience with NVIDIA Jetson devices and Raspberry Pi Compute Modules.
• Bonus: Familiarity with SOC 2 environments, custom PCB design, and hardware-aware model optimization.
