Internal Audit SOX Associate Manager

About the Role: At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. We are looking for an Internal Audit SOX Associate Manager to join our Internal Audit team, focusing primarily on SOX/ICFR compliance audits and the management of our outsourced testing team. You will run towards solving the company's hardest problems and help update the future global financial system.

What You'll Do

• Manage and oversee the BPO team responsible for executing internal controls testing in support of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 Compliance Program.
• Review BPO-prepared testing workpapers to confirm they are clear, accurate, complete, and in accordance with professional standards.
• Coordinate and support process walkthroughs with functional business partners and external auditors.
• Work with business partners and BPO resources to identify audit issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive SOX deficiencies to closure.
• Responsibly use generative AI tools (e.g., Gemini, Glean) to deliver business-ready outputs and drive improvements in efficiency and quality.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and 7+ years of accounting, financial audit, or SOX/ICFR experience.
• Experience in Big 4 or large public company audit with demonstrated success leading or overseeing SOX audits.
• Strong technical skills, including US GAAP, SOX, COSO, risks, and controls.
• Demonstrated people management and team leadership experience, including managing outsourced/BPO teams.
• Bonus: Professional certification (CPA, CIA), experience in crypto/fintech, and familiarity with data analytics tooling.
