Forward Deployed Engineer

About the Role

The Forward Deployed Engineer is an embedded member of the trial team, delivering the technical solutions assigned studies need. You build the study across the Citrus ecosystem, set up and manage its integrations and data pipelines, and help produce the databases, data, and artifacts a trial depends on, ensuring they are accurate and compliant.

This is a technical role. You write code, build the automation and tooling that keep quality high, and take part in the fire team, with platform work done under software engineering oversight. Trial delivery is the priority, and the technical work serves it.

About You

We'd like to hear from you if...

• You have 3-6 years of experience in software, data, or systems work, through a degree in a technical field or hands-on work, and can deliver independently once pointed at a problem; experience in clinical trials or life sciences is a plus.
• You are a capable engineer; you are proficient in coding and AI tools. Experience with Django admin and/or relational databases is valued.
• You are precise and thorough, with the attention to detail to spot gaps and ambiguities before they become problems.
• You are driven to understand and solve problems, and comfortable collaborating across technical and non-technical teams.
• You can prioritize effectively and keep track of several things at once without letting them slip.
• You are interested in working in a regulated environment, and can build systems and produce documentation that holds up under audit or inspection.
• You thrive in a startup environment that challenges the norms of typical biotechs, with high agency and a bias for action.

What You'll Focus On

• Build assigned studies across the Citrus ecosystem from approved designs, covering data collection forms, participant schedules, logic and edit-check rules, and user access.
• Set up and manage the integrations and data pipelines a study depends on.
• Run quality checks, build validation and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to confirm the build matches the specification, and coordinate go-live.
• Make approved changes to live studies, keeping them accurate and compliant as trials evolve.
• Take part in the Citrus trial technical support team, owning tickets for data corrections and the data warehouse and helping to debug Citrus under software engineering oversight.
• Build automated and agentic workflows that produce high-quality, compliant data.
• Make contributions to the core Citrus codebase where needed, with software engineering oversight.
• Provide technical review and input into Data Architects' designs, then build from them and work with the full trial team to deliver studies, flagging gaps or ambiguities early.
• Conduct all activities in line with relevant regulations and Lindus SOPs, and keep documentation to a standard that holds up under audit or inspection.
