About Lead Bank: Lead Bank (lead.bank) is a pioneering, FDIC-insured commercial banking institution headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, with state-of-the-art tech and operations hubs in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, and New York City. We build the vital banking infrastructure that powers embedded financial products and services for the world’s most innovative fintech enterprises. Guided by a team of veteran technologists, developers, and regulatory entrepreneurs, Lead Bank seamlessly blends cutting-edge engineering with robust program management to turn complex payments compliance into a springboard for creative commercial growth.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, self-driven, and detail-oriented Financial Crimes Quality Control Analyst II to join our centralized Counsel division under a permanent, full-time remote engagement framework. Operating as our core compliance auditing mechanism, you will step up to claim direct quality control assessment, alert triage, and procedural verification accountability over our multi-tiered fintech banking ecosystems. Shifting completely away from routine bookkeeping data entries, baseline customer support tracking, or basic corporate legal assistant paperwork, you will run an active risk-mitigation, FinCEN regulatory alignment, and programmatic trend analysis laboratory—partnering face-to-face with financial crimes analysts, risk operations managers, and external compliance engineers. This position requires a seasoned BSA specialist with 3-5 years of institutional banking experience who checks suspicious transaction alerts fluidly natively using Legal Consultant guidelines, evaluates financial crimes trends cleanly to mitigate money laundering or fraud red flags, and directs continuous quality improvement workflows confidently across complex Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) and virtual currency networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Autonomous Quality Control Assessments: Execute meticulous, high-fidelity quality control reviews across Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), transaction alert triages, and investigative case files across a variety of partner products.
  • Compliance Feedback and Mentorship: Deliver clear, constructive, and actionable feedback directly to financial crimes analysts, ensuring total adherence to Lead Bank’s established BSA program procedures.
  • Operational Error Trend Identification: Assist the Quality Control Manager in compiling structural error metrics and performance data tables to refine internal training models and optimize process scalability.
  • Procedural Gap Isolation: Leverage historical tracking data to actively spot operational discrepancies, process inefficiencies, or policy gaps within current risk mitigation systems natively utilizing Legal Consultant protocols.
  • Regulatory Subject Matter Expertise: Stay deeply aligned with shifting developments across FinCEN and anti-money laundering legislation, providing essential BSA subject matter expertise to cross-functional bank teams.
  • Risk Red Flags Remediation: Ensure the accurate identification, complete documentation, and prompt, deadline-driven reporting of all potentially suspicious events tied to Fraud, Money Laundering, or Terrorist Financing vectors.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of verified professional Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) or AML compliance experience operating within a regulated financial institution or fintech firm.
  • Comprehensive functional understanding of transaction scenarios tied to money laundering, consumer fraud patterns, and terrorist financing networks, along with appropriate mitigation playbooks.
  • Applied background analyzing and validating transaction monitoring logs within technology-focused AML platforms or automated risk software dashboards.
  • Strong data-driven, analytical mindset with the ability to independently process large transaction tables, solve discrepancies, and draft evidence-backed conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication strengths, with a proven ability to coordinate regulatory standards clearly across diverse corporate departments.
  • Highly organized, proactive self-starter who thrives inside a fluid, high-autonomy workplace and respects rigid department deadlines.
  • Location Context: Position features 100% work-from-home remote flexibility open to qualified compliance practitioners residing permanently anywhere across the United States.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Direct experience evaluating transaction risks tied to Convertible Virtual Currencies (CVC), digital assets, or Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) integrations.
  • Hands-on platform experience operating with modern tech-focused AML software infrastructures like Unit21.
  • Active industry-standard compliance certifications including Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified AML and Fraud Professional (CAFP).

What We Offer

  • Vetted, Cost-of-Labor Regional Compensation Blueprint: Competitive baseline salary structured transparently across defined US geographic market zones:
    - Zone 1 (SF Bay Area, NYC, Seattle): $85,000 - $100,000
    - Zone 2 (LA, Chicago, Austin, Denver, Boston, DC, San Diego, Philly, Portland, Sacramento): $70,000 - $83,000

  • Robust corporate benefits encompassing top-tier Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage along with definitive 401(k) matching and flexible wellness accounts (HSA/FSA/HRA).
  • Comprehensive paid parental leave policies alongside an adaptable vacation framework including open PTO and observed bank holidays.
  • The exceptional professional landscape to scale your financial compliance career alongside elite developers and regulatory leaders within an industry-defining fintech bank.
