About Build: Build is a premier, hyper-growth proptech pioneer and software engineering house dedicated to building the definitive agentic artificial intelligence stack for the global built world. By training intelligent agent models to reason seamlessly across intricate structural documents, design drawings, land constraints, financial models, and regional planning policies, Build empowers institutional real estate developers, alternative asset investors, and public-sector partners to automate complex acquisitions workflows. Backed by industry-defining operators—including senior executives from Blackstone and OpenAI—Build accelerates project feasibility phases, eliminating systemic costs and administrative delays to shape physical spaces efficiently.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly sophisticated, systems-minded Expert - Block & Test Fits to join our core AI Domain and Engineering group in a flexible, fully remote contract capacity. Operating under the guiding paradigm that “the AI does the work, the domain expert makes it right,” you will serve as a principal validation authority over agentic architectural outputs. Moving completely past passive observation, you will leverage Build’s internal tooling to evaluate automated block fits at 10x traditional speeds, correcting algorithmic errors before they compromise live client engagements. This role demands a seasoned spatial design or planning consultant who can cross-reference physical setbacks, parking ratios, and structural loading paths with local policy norms, translating raw expert judgment into repeatable machine frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- AI Output Validation & Auditing: Review, validate, and aggressively stress-test AI-generated block fits and test fit outputs across live institutional client portfolios to guarantee extreme structural accuracy and spatial correctness.
- Practitioner Judgment Application: Apply masterly real estate advisory insights to evaluate architectural massing, complex Gross Floor Area (GFA) calculations, building setback compliance, loading limits, and parking distribution ratios.
- Algorithmic Quality Calibration: Identify, isolate, and document instances where machine-generated visuals are incorrect, incomplete, or inconsistent with development norms and local municipal policies.
- Cross-Functional Platform Tuning: Collaborate tightly with backend software engineers and AI platform developers to iteratively improve agent reasoning models, training weights, and software output metrics.
- Feasibility Commentary Authoring: Produce precise, clear written Assessments, scheme commentaries, and technical feasibility notes that support fast-moving, asynchronous customer decisions.
- Correctness Blueprint Definition: Help articulate formal constraints, baseline assumptions, and contextual judgment calls to structuralize what a successful, viable real estate scheme looks like in training sets.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of verified professional history running architectural test fits, land massing layouts, or urban development feasibility initiatives within an architect’s practice, developer group, or real estate consultancy.
- Deep technical proficiency navigating, designing, and reviewing spatial outputs inside industry-standard computer-aided design tools, specifically AutoCAD, Revit, or Rhino.
- Strong, authoritative working knowledge of regional planning policies, zoning restrictions, and structural constraints across major metro markets (US, UK, or European cities preferred).
- Proven capability to critically trace and manipulate AI-generated layout properties, adapting model outputs to real-world construction tolerances.
- Outstanding written communication mechanics, with a demonstrated capability to explain complex spatial logic blocks clearly inside fast-moving, asynchronous remote team environments.
- Location Context: Contract-based parameters providing qualified domain experts with the complete flexibility to operate remotely from home anywhere across the globe.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior experience evaluating property development viability for high-density residential towers, industrial logistics parks, alternative infrastructure sites, or renewable energy grids.
- Familiarity with agentic AI toolsets, large language model testing loops, or digital annotation environments designed to ingest data science models.
- Academic background or professional licenses relative to certified urban planning, civil engineering, or architecture disciplines.
What We Offer
- Premium Hourly Contract Matrix: A highly lucrative contract base wage ranging between $75.00 – $200.00 USD per hour, calibrated transparently to evaluate your level of technical expertise, with potential for long-term monthly retainer agreements.
- The exceptional professional canvas to directly partner with leading tech minds from OpenAI and Blackstone, steering the artificial intelligence engines that power the physical world.
- Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering high lifestyle flexibility, complete geographic freedom, and output-focused milestones.
- An inclusive, low-bureaucracy engineering environment where your practical field judgment acts as a structural force multiplier for automated machine intelligence.
