As a Developer Marketer for Sales at PostHog, your role is to transform complex internal positioning and messaging into actionable sales enablement materials. You’ll bridge the gap between engineering, product marketing, and sales to ensure the team can effectively communicate PostHog’s value as the default all-in-one devtool.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Owning sales enablement end-to-end: You’ll be the go-to resource for Sales on positioning, competitive intelligence, objection handling, and customer stories. Build and maintain public handbook playbooks so Sales can access critical materials instantly.
  • Translating PMM work into Sales-ready content: Take product-level positioning and messaging from PMMs and adapt it into battlecards, talk tracks, discovery questions, and enablement sessions tailored for Sales.
  • Filling positioning gaps: Own messaging for platform features and product areas without dedicated PMMs to ensure Sales has a cohesive narrative across the entire product suite.
  • Surfacing insights from customer conversations: Extract use cases, objections, and pain points from Gong recordings and Slack threads, then integrate them into messaging, content, and product strategy.
  • Shipping enablement content weekly: This isn’t a strategy-only role. You’ll create and iterate on battlecards, FAQs, training sessions, and launch enablement materials based on what Sales finds most useful.

Example Projects:

What You Won’t Be Doing:

  • ❌ Writing long-form whitepapers or sales decks that go unread.
  • ❌ Managing formal certification programs or quarterly readiness training.
  • ❌ Owning CRM, sales ops, or pipeline metrics (that’s Sales’ domain).
  • ❌ Planning multi-quarter projects with delayed impact.
  • ❌ Organizing repetitive webinars or spamming users with invitations.

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing, researching, and communication skills—critical for translating complex ideas into clear, compelling content.
  • Development experience (even informal, like side projects) to understand devtool audiences and technical messaging.
  • Experience targeting developers or writing for technical audiences.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining sales enablement content that Sales actually uses.
  • Comfort collaborating closely with Sales as your primary internal customer.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience analyzing call recordings (e.g., Gong, Granola) to extract actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with handbook-style documentation as a source of truth.
  • Background in devtool products or experience working with technical audiences.
  • Prior roles as a product marketer, growth marketer, or content marketer.

Founded in 2020 by Y Combinator alumni James Hawkins and Tim Glaser, the company has completely disrupted the traditional product analytics market by offering a single, unified suite of developer tools. Under the hood, PostHog provides deep product analytics, session recording, feature flagging, A/B testing, and user data pipelines (CDP) all within one platform that can be seamlessly self-hosted or deployed in the cloud. Their primary target audience spans developers, product managers, and agile engineering teams at hyper-growth startups and enterprises who want full control over their user data without relying on a fragmented stack of third-party SaaS tools. What sets PostHog apart in the crowded data landscape is its transparent, open-source architecture, its incredibly vibrant developer community, and its ability to consolidate the entire modern product stack into one workflow—giving teams the ultimate power to understand user behavior and ship winning features with absolute confidence.
