The Developer is a key member of the Product Development Team. Working with the Product Owner, the Developer implements software designs. The Developer uses available development tools to create functional implementations of software.

As a Developer you will be expected to design and implement solutions that result in high quality, well documented and unit testable source code. You will be required to meet all coding standards for your project. You will be expected to provide accurate scoring and/or work effort estimations, risk assessments and participate in schedule development.

Developers may be asked to lead improvement initiatives to eliminate waste and increase R&D effectiveness. This includes performing code and design reviews, quality audits, design audits, leading group projects.

In addition to your development responsibilities, you will liaise with other teams, including Technical Support, Documentation, Quality Assurance, Product Line Management, and Conversions. A key responsibility of a Developer is to provide technical support when needed. You may be required to lead troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis efforts, working directly with customers to diagnose and fix product performance issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new features and/or extend existing code and functionality
  • Perform component, feature, system and/or product analysis and modeling
  • Create unit test plans
  • Resolve product defects
  • Design and/or recommend changes in data structures, business objects, UI elements
  • Participate in and provide input to design, release and sprint planning activities
  • Perform software testing using specified procedures and tools
  • Write supporting documentation including test plans, technical specifications, feature descriptions, class/object descriptions, and in-code commenting
  • Work with Quality Engineers and Technical Support teams to diagnose and troubleshoot product related issues
  • Develop and maintain intimate technical knowledge of our products, data structures, utilities and tools
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis on defects and/or other issues
  • Lead and participate in code, design, and test reviews
  • Lead R&D and product improvement initiatives
  • Adhere to all development guidelines, policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • 7 years of programming/analysis activities in a business environment
  • Minimum of 7 years experience with Microsoft C++
  • Experience with MFC or another framework for building desktop application user interfaces (e.g., Qt, WinForms, WPF, etc.)
  • Experience developing desktop applications for Microsoft Windows operating systems
  • Experience with Agile Development
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Individual must be self-managing, self-motivated and highly energetic
  • Experience with database design concepts and SQL
  • Ability to effectively interface with customers and all levels of employees.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred skills

  • Experience with a relational database like SQL Server
  • Experience with C# and .Net
  • Experience with ISAM
  • Experience developing Windows Form applications
