Designer

About the Role: Epoch AI is a research institute that investigates trends in machine learning and the economic consequences of AI. We are looking for a Designer to support our work in UI/UX and data visualization, translating complex research into intuitive, user-centered websites, dashboards, and engaging designs.

What You'll Do

• Design responsive user interfaces, graphs, and visualizations to communicate our research effectively.
• Create mock-ups, prototypes, and design specifications to explore and communicate design concepts.
• Ensure adherence to design systems and visual consistency across our platforms.
• Uncover design solutions to user and company needs, working closely with our current Product Designer.
• Bonus: Contribute to the design library and conduct user research and usability testing based on your interests.

What You Bring

• 2+ years of experience designing interactive digital products with a portfolio demonstrating UI/UX and/or data visualization skills.
• Strong grasp of typography, color, and layout principles.
• Ability to work comfortably in Figma, including auto-layout and components.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Nice to have: Familiarity with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JS), Python libraries (Matplotlib/Plotly), or scientific communication.
