About Superhuman

Superhuman is the AI productivity platform empowering over 40 million people, 50,000 organizations, and 3,000 educational institutions worldwide. Their suite of apps—including Grammarly, Docs, Mail, and Go—integrates AI across over 1 million applications and websites, eliminating busywork and focusing users on what matters.

The Opportunity

This Data Scientist role is embedded in the Superhuman Mail business unit, working alongside Data Engineering, Finance, RevOps, and UX Market Research. The team shapes how one of the most beloved productivity products grows, retains, and delights its users.

Superhuman Mail is the fastest, most AI-native email experience, helping users save four hours per week by automating tasks like drafting replies, auto-labeling messages, and managing follow-ups. It serves individuals and Fortune 500 sales teams, with a deeply loyal user base.

Your work will drive impact on acquisition, activation, retention, and expansion, leveraging a rich data environment and hard growth questions.

This role is part of a broader platform story, connecting insights across Mail, Grammarly, Docs, Databases, and Go. The user base spans students, knowledge workers, and enterprises globally, creating diverse opportunities for data-driven decision-making.

What You’ll Do

  • Be the embedded data science partner for the Mail core product team, shaping feature strategy, prioritization, and roadmap decisions with evidence.

  • Define and own critical metrics for Mail, including activation milestones, engagement depth, retention curves, and leading indicators for feature impact.

  • Design and run experiments across the Mail product lifecycle, from onboarding to long-term habit formation, and build measurement frameworks to separate signal from noise.

  • Shape the measurement strategy for Mail’s AI features (Auto Drafts, Auto Labels, Auto Archive, Calendar, MCP) by defining quality frameworks and behavioral metrics to measure AI effectiveness.

  • Analyze what makes Mail sticky, identifying features driving deep engagement and optimizing the activation sequence for power users.

  • Partner with growth teams to identify and quantify levers that turn individual users into team expansions, predicting conversion and churn.

  • Use data to craft remarkable product moments, improving onboarding flows, feature discovery, and engagement nudges.

  • Communicate findings clearly to PMs, designers, engineers, and executives, raising the bar on data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Requires 5+ years of data science experience with a track record of driving measurable business impact.

  • Deep expertise in experimentation and causal inference, including A/B testing, quasi-experimental, and observational methods.

  • Fluency in Python and SQL, with strong data exploration and manipulation skills.

  • Strong applied statistics and machine learning skills to drive product and growth decisions.

  • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into sound experimental designs and metrics.

  • Experience influencing cross-functional partners and communicating technical insights clearly.

  • Self-starting, creative problem-solver who thrives with ambiguity.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Experience at a fast-growing startup, on AI-native consumer products, or in B2B/SaaS.

  • Strategic thought partnership with product, growth, or business leaders.

  • Hands-on evaluation of AI, LLM, or agentic product quality.

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code or Codex.

  • Experience with experimentation platforms like Statsig and modern data stacks like Databricks.

  • Background in product-led growth and lifecycle/marketing analytics.

  • Experience establishing data science team methods, standards, and processes.

Superhuman is an AI-native productivity platform designed to eliminate the friction of modern work. Originally known as Grammarly (the famous AI writing assistant), the company acquired the collaborative document platform Coda, and later acquired the ultra-fast premium email client Superhuman in 2025. Following these massive acquisitions, the parent company completely rebranded itself from Grammarly to 'Superhuman.' Their mission is to close the 'AI productivity gap.' Instead of making you open a separate AI chatbot and manually type prompts, Superhuman integrates proactive AI agents directly into your emails, documents, and browser tabs, allowing humans and AI to seamlessly work together everywhere work happens."
